Does anyone know the history of the events that led up to the first Crusade?

Weren't some of them Islam pushing up through Spain into France,

pushing up through Eastern Europe,

and pushing up through Sicily, even to temporarily taking the Vatican?

Also there was merciless slaughter of Christians in the Middle East, and churches destroyed.

Middle Eastern Christians were tortured to force them to convert to Islam.

The Christian churches in Israel & in Jerusalem were taken over, destroyed, and turned into mosques.

I just don't know the timeline and dates for these things.

Seems like history is repeating itself today.

Will the West be compelled to launch another Crusade?
