"Reply to Adrian "A covenant with the 'many'?""

Thanks Adrian,

This is very interesting how it fits with Daniel 9:27.  It does not give a date for this referendum but should not be far off.

There has been much speculation concerning the current peace initiative and the 'covenant with the many' that 'he shall confirm' as prophesied in Daniel 9:27. The Hebrew words allow a range of interpretations; the most common English translation suggests it will confirm an existing agreement but it might alternatively mean to make a strong covenant.

The timing is according to God's plan and not in the hands of men. There have been many previous 'peace' initiatives that have come to nothing, because it was not yet God's time. Whether anything will come of this one remains to be seen, however it is possible that it is now God's time and this one really is THE one.

What I find interesting and significant about the reported plan for a referendum is that it involves the majority of the Israeli people directly in the making of the agreement. Hitherto, the decisions have been made for them by a few elected oligarchs. But the scripture does not refer to rulers, it refers to the 'many'.  This would perfectly describe an agreement ratified by a popular referendum.

I have personal experience of voting in the referendum to determine whether Britain would enter the Common Market. Using the knowledge and discernment I have acquired since, my vote today might be wiser than the choice I made then. Suffice it to say that it is easy for the populace to be deceived and the majority is not always right. It is not hard to imagine that a referendum to enter into an unwise and ungodly covenant might pass the popular vote.
