"My dream in 2008"

Dear John and Doves,

This is my first post however, I have been a reader and follower of Five Doves since 2010.

About five years ago, I had a dream that has disturbed me since the night I had it. The day after I had the dream, I called my brother and Mom and shared the dream with them. They were both troubled by the dream as they had never heard me say anything like this before. I currently live in central Florida, however, the dream was centered on where I lived before I retired and moved to Florida.

I lived and worked in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The town I lived in was about 40 miles out of the City of Atlanta in the northeast suburbs near the I-85. My home was on a hill that faced the south.

In my dream I was walking in the hallway of my home. I began to hear the sounds of explosions in the distance and saw flashes of light in the front windows. I ran downstairs onto the front porch and looked to the southwest where Atlanta is located. I could see a huge, thick black column of smoke that was rising in the air and had already reached thousands of feet into the sky. My dream was as if this were happening in daylight but the flashes of light were brighter than the normal daylight.I could see the flashes of light on the horizon in the southwest that were the bombs striking targets I could not see. It looked like the entire southwest was burning and being continuously hit by bombs. As I stood there looking in amazement, I heard the sound of a rocket overhead. I looked up to see a large rocket with a smoke plume behind it, flying from the northeast heading towards the city. It was like the height of a commercial jet passing but much faster. My neighbors were standing in the street watching the spectacle unfold in horror. Someone who I didn't know said, "It is all over now", calmly and slowly.

I ran to the backyard of my home and began to yell to my children to get inside. When I tried to call my broither in Florida, the phones werew dead. I had the feeling of dread and knew this wasn't just happening in Atlanta, that it was an attack that was taking place all over the country. Then I woke up. There was no date in the dream and I no longer own the home where the dream was taking place, I sold the home in 2007.

I haven't ever before or since had a dream like this, one that was so real yet so unlikely at the time. This is the first time I have told of the dream other than the day after when I told my family. I felt that this is the time I am to tell of this dream for reasons that are soon to become evident.
