"Dan Bruce (28 Jan 2013) "Is the United States mentioned in the Bible?""

From: Marilyn Agee

Hi:

I think the USA is alluded to in these verses:

2Sa_7:23 says, "And what one (echad, united) nation (goy, foreign Gentile nation, i.e., the United States) in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?"

1Ch_17:21 says, "And what one (echad, united) nation (i.e., the United States) in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?"

I am aware that many Bible expositors have included the United States in their interpretations of biblical prophecies, especially when explaining the Book of Revelation, but I haven't found any specific mention of the U.S. in the biblical text. From my studies, it seems that all end-time prophecies in both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and B'rit Hadashah (New Testament) are centered only on the nation and people of Israel, and on events located in the physical land of Israel.

On the other hand, the continuance of the Great Commission says in Acts 1:7-9, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (KJV), expands the scope of the Bible's message beyond Israel to the "uttermost part of the earth," and that is the closest I have come to finding anything outside of the Holy Land mentioned in biblical prophecy. That means that the U.S. is included in biblical prophecy, but only collectively as part of the uttermost parts of the earth.

But. there is much more to the story, as explained in my paper on Academia.edu: Is the United States mentioned in the Bible?

Or, you can read my full exposition on my website at: Is the U.S. mentioned in Bible prophecy?

Thank you for your consideration,
