"The Statue's feet and 10 Toes... re: Donna Danna Feb 18 Post"

I recently came to the same conclusion as Donna. The excerpt below from my book 'Essays on an Ancient Creed' on Amazon, provides additional context for Donna's idea.

This reciprocity between Israel and the Nations can be found in other contexts with greater precision and simpler form. 2000 years ago Jesus said as much by connecting the ‘Times of the Gentiles’ with the Diaspora of Israel, as if their fates were somehow intertwined off a common script (Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25).

For Henry Grattan Guinness (1835-1910) a grandson of Arthur Guinness, the Times of the Gentiles began when Israel originally lost sovereignty to Babylon in the events of 606 to 602 BC. In his treatise '‘The Approaching end of the Age’, 1878; he writes; "However impossible it may appear that Palestine should ever again be the home of a mighty Jewish nation, scripture leaves no room to doubt that such will be the case." And in his ‘Light for the Last Days’, 1886, “we know that the larger seven times dispersion is all but over, and their full and final restoration to Palestine is close at hand”.

How close? Like a 19th century Daniel he writes; “From the full captivity of Judah and final fall of the throne of David, accomplished by Nebuchadnezzar, to the latest terminus ad quem of the prophetic period of 2520 years. B.C. 602 (to) A.D. 1919” (ibid, 1878).

Guinness was prescient; in 1917 the British Empire’s Balfour Declaration promised such a homeland in Palestine for the Jewish people. As for the Nations, 606 BC to 602 BC + 2520 are the years of World War I (1914-1918), when the Ottoman Empire was dissolved and Christendom itself began to crumble, at least according to many historians. For Guinness, 1919 would mark the beginning of the end of the last great empires of the Times of the Gentiles, symbolically portrayed in Nebuchadnezzar’s statue dream (Daniel 2), with the kingdom of Babylon as the Head of fine Gold, only to end in some distant future with an assortment of nations under two different empires – Feet of Iron mixed with Clay.

Passchendaele, Verdun, Gallipoli, the Somme; Christendom’s picturesque countrysides turned into ghoulish landscapes ankle deep in iron mixed with clay... or rather mud, lots of mud. How fitting to find Daniel’s 2600 year old metaphor of the last Gentile empires wall-papered across my laptop by a simple internet search, photos of WWI. An outcome for Guinness to foretell some 40 years before, a prophecy fulfilled for all of us to see today.

This of course brings to mind Israel’s rebirth in 1948,... etc.
