Right now Russia is having its way with Ukraine.   How this will ultimately play out we do not know, but this much we do know.   The hour is late in these End Times!   Israel returned as a free, independent nation in 1948 for the first time since 721 B.C. when Assyria came down from the north and took the northern ten tribes of Israel captive.   In 1948 A.D. (2669 years later!) we entered what the Bible delineates as the End Times of this present dispensation of time, the Church Age.   From the "parable of the fig tree" in both the New and Old Testaments, we are the "generation" to see all end time events come to pass.   This includes the upcoming Rapture, subsequent 7 year Tribulation Period, and finally the Second Coming of Israel's long rejected Messiah, Who is Christ.  

Russia may have its way with Ukraine, but God has a huge surprise waiting for Russia in the not too distant future!   You see, Russia is also going to attack Israel (Ezekiel 38 & 39), but the result is going to be very much different!   Ukraine has a population of around 40 million, but Israel only around 10 million.   Russia will think Israel will be a "cake walk".   After all, Russia is a very powerful nation going against little Israel.   But Russia will be making a huge miscalculation when she tries to tread upon the ancient Living God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob!

Ezekiel 38 & 39 is an enormous topic that I have not yet covered in the Church 52 prophecy class that I teach every Sunday morning, though we are 46 weeks into that course.   I don't have time here to go into the extreme detail associated with this topic, but I do want to cover a few things.

Ezekiel 38:8 states, "After many days you (Russia and her allies) will be summoned; in the LATTER YEARS (end times) you will come into the land that is restored from the sword (the holocaust upon the Jewish people during World War II), whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel (after World War II Jewish people came into Palestine from Europe and many other nations as 1948 approached), which had been a continual waste (from 70 AD when the Jewish people were dispersed to the nations the land of Palestine was a wasteland for nearly two millenia); but its people were brought out from the nations and they are living securely (present day Israel)........"

Ezekiel 38:14-16 states, ".......On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it?  And you will come from your place OUT OF THE REMOTE PARTS OF THE NORTH (Russia), you and many peoples with you......... and you will come up against My people Israel like a CLOUD to cover the land (modern warfare involves airplanes, paratroopers, etc.).  It will come about in the LAST DAYS (now) that I shall bring you against My land, in order that the nations may know Me when I shall be sanctified through you before their eyes......"

Ezekiel 38:18 states, "And it will come about on that day, when Gog (the leader of Russia and her allies) comes against the land of Israel", declares the Lord God, "that My fury will mount up in My anger......."

Ezekiel 39:4 states, "You shall fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops, and the peoples who are with you; I shall give you as food to every kind of predatory bird and beast of the field."

Well, there is a lot more to this story in Scripture of the upcoming Russian invasion of Israel, but I think you get the idea, so nuff said here!   God Himself will soundly defeat Russia and her allies in that attack!

Oh, one last thing.   The Rapture is also in this mix, but too much to go into here.
