Will the new earth be the same size as the current earth?

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

I recently heard someone say that the new earth might be many, many times bigger than the current earth.

It was mentioned that it would then be easier to handle the large populations that will end up living on the new earth,

also that it will be easier to handle the dimensions of the new Jerusalem, particularly for the 1500 mile height.

Nothing is impossible for the LORD, so he could just as easily do it all on a new earth the same size as the current one.

However, I never heard of a much bigger new earth, before.

Has anyone else heard that?
