"Relooking At The
Length of a Generation and When It Starts"
Hello John and Doves,
I want to consider two specific verses:
Psalm 90:10 "Our lives last seventy years or, if we are
strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle
and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away."
Matthew 24:34 "Truly I say to you, this generation will
not pass away until all these things take place."
What are 'all these things'?
Jesus was talking to his disciples when they were sitting on the
Mount of Olives...they wanted to know about the sign of His
coming and the end of the age... Jesus tells them about the
'birth pains', the 'abomination of desolation', fleeing from the
fields and housetops, and after 'the anguish of those days' -
the sun is darkened, the stars fall from the sky, the heavenly
bodies are shaken, the sign of the Son of Man appears in the
Heavens, and He returns in the clouds with 'power and great
glory." Matthew 24
So 'all of these things' will take us to the end - the Second
Coming.
What is the length of a generation? Psalms 90:10 has it at
70 years or 80 at the longest.
If a generation is 70 OR 80 years max and If THIS generation
started with the rebirth of Israel in 1948, like many
believe...then 1948 plus 70 to 80 years takes us to 2018 - 2028,
at the latest.
Because 'all these things' takes us to the Second Coming, we
need to subtract the 7 years of the Tribulation...so for 2028,
the minus 7 years = 2021. 2021 would be the start of the 7
year Tribulation to take us to 2028, the Second Coming.
The 70 year generation no longer fits for a 7 year Tribulation,
because it would have had to have started in 2011. A 79
year generation would take us to 2027 and minus 7 years is
2020. Just seems odd to have a 79 year generation.
IF, the Tribulation is 3.5 years long, it can start 2020, 2021,
2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and end 3.5 years later, to still be in
the 2028 time frame (80 year generation).
I am looking at IF a generation is 70 - 80 years and IF the last
generation started in 1948.
I hope we are not dealing with a longer generation, say 100
years. And I hope we are correct about when the last
generation started - 1948.
If all these years pass, then we'll know something wasn't right.
Just my musings on this.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
Maranatha!
