Hello John and Doves,
I've often wondered what happened to all the demons in Jesus' day.
Seems wherever Jesus went, the Gospels record Him healing the sick AND casting out demons. There must have been a lot of demon possessed people back then because there are a lot of stories about it in the New Testament!
We know there was a lot sickness/disease/physical afflictions...yet, the 'casting out of demons' is in many, many stories too that tell us what Jesus did with His time here. In fact, many stories involve ONLY the casting out of demons!
This was a very important part of Jesus' ministry and of His apostles'. Often we only think of His healing the sick, but forget about the other part.
It was very important to Jesus to heal AND cast out the demons. We rarely ever hear of ministers addressing demon possession - there have been healing services for the public, but no exorcism services. Why is that?
Churches have forgotten about this. Jesus and His apostles did it a LOT - so why isn't demon possession being addressed today? The demons just didn't go away after Jesus' time. I know the Catholic Church has exorcists...but it seems other churches completely ignore this.
Below are a few examples from the New Testament about what Jesus and His apostles did:
(English Standard Version)
In Mark 6:7 Jesus sends out His twelve apostles two by two and "gave them authority over the unclean spirits".
This was a very important and serious command!
So what happened to those demons? Do we have demon possessed people today? Why would the population be any different today than in Jesus' day? I believe our generation is much, much worse than Jesus' generation!
Matthew 8:16 That evening they brought to Him many who were oppressed by demons, and He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
Luke 4:41 And demons also came out of many, crying, "You are the Son of God!"...
Luke 9:1-17 And He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.
Matthew 4:24 So His fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought Him all the sick, those afflicted with various disease and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and healed them.
As we go through our daily lives, be aware of the presence of evil waiting to devour us...be not fooled, be not deceived.
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil int he heavenly places.
And remember:
Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. The it says, "I will return to my house (the person it left) from which I came'. And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. The it goes and brings with it seven other spiritis more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of the person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.
This 'evil generation' is also our present generation! Many people are waking up and seeing the evil that pervades our society, our government.
"There is Something Demonic Happening in the Democrat Party" - this title caught my eye the other day. The author, Todd Starnes, had the wonderful honor of being invited to and attending the SOTU address. He writes about his experience there. He ends his article, in reference to the Democrat women who wore white, with "Perhaps they should consider swapping their white dresses and cloaks for sackcloth and ashes." Very well said!

We have been warned about these 'last days' -
2 Timothy 3: 1-5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come days of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
The Lord does not leave us powerless against the forces of evil -
Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rules, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
May we all put on the armor of God and stand against the enemy as one. We have the Victory because we are in His hands.
I have a poster on my wall: The devil whispered in my ear, "You are not strong enough to withstand the storm." Today I whispered in the devil's ear, "I am the storm!"
This day, We Are The Storm! Stand strong!
Maranatha!
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
