"What is the will of the father ??!"

What is the will of the father ???

I'm writing this because this is one the most misunderstood terms in regards to one's salvation.

Therefore I wanted to present to you some clarification as to what the actual meaning of this is.

Let's begin

Matthew 7:21-23

"21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

A lot of people think that means if your not doing enough or not living holy enough then the you will not make it into heaven.
But we really need to interpret the scripture properly for what it says and keep it in context.

These people that Jesus was referring to in this passage were to those that are trusting in their own works in order to be saved.  Not because they weren't obedient enough or lived a carnal life.

If these people were true believers they would have said something like "but lord we trusted and believed on you for eternal life" but instead these people immediately look to their own works to try to justify themselves before Christ.

Matthew 7:22 "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?"

Though these people thought they in believed in Jesus as messiah, but they did not fully submit their trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ and instead trusted in their own obedience and actions to save them.

Matthew 7:23

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Because of this they were never saved in the first place and they will be rejected by Jesus on the day of judgment and be sent to eternal damnation.

We must understand that one cannot claim to trust in Jesus Christ as saviour from their sins but then believe that their own lifestyle and obedience contributes to their salvation. It's either one or the other.

Let's continue

Matthew 7:21

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven".

A lot of people think will of the father" that Jesus is talking about in this passage means we must live in total commitment and obedience in order to be saved, however Jesus made it very clear what the will of the father is.

John 6:40

"And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day".

The only thing that one must do in order to obtain eternal life is believe and trust in the finished work of Christ. That he died was buried and rose again from the dead to pay the penalty for our sins so that we can go to heaven.

Now in no way am I condoning sin, Jesus commands and expects us to our lives in obedience and in dedication to him.

However we do not do these things in order to be saved or to maintain our salvation because all would fail, but out of the love and gratitude that we have for him as our lord and saviour.

The believer who does this will not only enjoy the blessings that God has in store for him in this life but also will reap lots of rewards at the judgement seat of Christ in the next life.

2 Corinthians 5:10

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

1 Corinthians 3:13-15

13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

Once you become a child of God The lifestyle that you live on this earth determines your eternal "Status" in heaven not your eternal destination as that was already dealt with moment that you believed.

I hope that this clears any misunderstanding for anyone out there.

Have a great day

God Bless you all in Jesus name
