"Call of the Turtledove"

Call of the Turtledove

by Frances  J. Roberts

O My children, there is the sound of the
turtledove going throughout the land.
It is the voice of the Bridegroom calling
forth His Bride. It is the wooing of the
Spirit bringing forth a people for His name.
Yea, it is the Lord of Glory, Jesus Christ
Himself, drawing together them that are
His. It is the call of love, and they who
truly love Him shall respond.

Like attracts like; and love has ever
been the test of true discipleship.
Those whose hearts are fixed on things
above shall not be holden by worldly
entanglements (even though these be
in the organized church). They who are
listening to the voice of their Beloved
shall not be deafened by the cries of
men. In a world that is filled with noises,
each demanding attention, they shall
hear.

Yea, they shall even hear the tender
cooing of the turtledove! Another may
stand beside them and hear only the
voice of the preacher. Another may be
giving attention to the opinions and
arguments of men. In the words of the
beloved hymn-writer: "The love of
Jesus, what it is, None but His loved
ones know."

Ye need not fear that ye will miss it.
Be it ever so soft, ye shall hear. Lo,
thy heart shall hear, and thy heart
shall leap with joy. Ye shall be even as
Elizabeth when greeted by Mary. The
response was immediate --- an inner,
involuntary response to the nearness
of the Christ, even while He was yet
unborn and unseen by the world.

I tell you, there shall be a revelation
of My nearness given to My dear ones
before My second coming.

Anticipate Me. Watch for Me. Thy heart
shall listen, and thy heart shall hear.
I am not far off. I am looking through
the lattice.* You shall see Me ---ye shall
know --- ye shall rejoice.
