"Satan tempts those who would follow Jesus  to avoid the cross ------ and worship him"

Satan tempts Jesus to avoid the cross --- and worship him!
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, where he was tempted by the devil for forty days.  Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.” Luke 4:1,2,5-7

Satan tempts Jesus through Peter to avoid the cross --
But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s. ”Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.  Matthew 16:22-25

Satan tempts those who would follow Jesus  to avoid the cross ------ and worship him!
Jesus was tempted by the devil to avoid the cross both in the wilderness and through The Apostle, Peter.  Jesus as we know,  did not sin by disobeying His Father's will for Him and neither should we.  Ours is the same road that Jesus took and the only road which leads to Our Father and His Heaven.  He said to all of them, "Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses every day, and follow me. Luke 9:23
And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matthew 10:38,39
