JESUS WAS THE PASSOVER LAMB OF GOD
"This
month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month
of the year (Nisan) to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel,
saying, On the 10th of this month (Saturday) every man shall take for
himself a Lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a
household. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year.
Now you shall keep it until the 14th day (Passover Wednesday) of the
same month . Then kill it at twilight."
So you see, Sabbath Saturday the 10th is FOUR DAYS before
Passover Wednesday the 14th of Nisan. Jesus , who is the unblemished
lamb of God, was following the same pattern of the original Passover the
week He rode into Jerusalem on Palm Saturday Nisan 10 four days before
Passover on Wednesday the 14th , the day He was crucified. He was in the
grave for the next three nights and days from sunset Wednesday to
sunset Saturday to fulfill the prophecy of Jonah , and then He
resurrected soon after sunset on Saturday which was then Sunday, the
first day of the week.
Jesus perfectly and completely fulfilled both the prophecies of the Passover lamb as well as the prophecy of Jonah .
