I hope you are doing well and remember it will take time to heal.
Loss is a process and Jesus will be with you every step of the way.

P.S....I remembered another verse after I posted that...
Perhaps the most important of all! 

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
 - John 10:11  ESV

So remember that Jesus Himself referenced how a good shepherd will 
lay his very life down for the sheep. 
Even though He was referring to us as His sheep,
this was true of shepherds, even David in the Old Testament,
who fought wild animals to protect the sheep,
knowing these animals could have very well killed him.

I believe He loves kitties and doggies just like sheep:)
So I pray He comforts You, Sister.
