HEADING FOR DISASTER

Something big and bad is headed our way
It’s
just over the horizon, just beyond the line of sight. Maybe we
can make out a slight discoloration of the sky. As yet, it’s
nothing so obvious as all the water getting sucked out of a
bay—a sure sign that a tsunami’s coming. This is
more like the faintest little shiver of the earth beneath your
feet, and the creepy feeling that goes with it.
The world goes through catastrophes. The earth is the Lord’s, and from time to time He shakes it.
I
think we are in for the worst shaking we’ve had since World War
II. Signs abound. To mention just a few of them:
A
major bank in Britain—not Cyprus—won’t let customers withdraw
“large sums” of their own money (“large” in the bank’s
opinion), unless they have “a good reason” (in the bank’s
opinion) why they want it.
What
gives? Britain is supposed to be solvent—or are things not as they seem?
Meanwhile,
bureaucrats and academics and noozies and celebrities
throughout the Western world have been floating trial balloons
for communism. Only communism can turn back Global Warming. Only
communism can save us. Communism gets things done efficiently;
it makes the trains run on time; it’ll enable true Social
Justice by the coercive redistribution of wealth—and this from
left-wing zillionaires who cling to every nickel of their own
money as if it were their last breath of life.
Why
do important people say such asinine things? The world’s
advanced economies teeter on the edge of bankruptcy—and this is
all the brain trust
can come up with?
In
all my life, I’ve never seen anything to compare with the
frantic, furious campaign to exalt homosexuality. This passion
has engulfed the entire ruling class—politicians, Hollywood, the
legal profession, university profs and teacher unions, the
nooze media, and even quite a few bent churchmen and corrupted
churches. This might be understandable if these people were
themselves homosexuals—but they’re not. And yet they carry on as
if sodomy were the crown jewel of the culture: not just desirable
above all things, but priced beyond rubies, indispensable. They’ve
just got to have it.
Do
you understand that? I don’t! When four British cops get
assigned to track down and
“investigate” a 9-year-old kid who called another kid “gay” on
the playground; when the state of Oregon contemplates imposing
“hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines,” or even a prison
sentence, on the owners of a mom-and-pop bakery for failing to
obey a pair of lesbians’ demand that they create a cake for their
“gay wedding”; when the state of Massachusetts contemplates
forcing a Roman Catholic school to hire a man who is “married”
to another man—when stuff like this routinely happens every day,
you begin to fear for the sanity of the persons in charge of running
the country. What are they thinking?
In
the 1930s, as European politics swirled around and around the
drain of war, the decision-makers of the United States, Britain,
and France blinded
themselves to what was going on in Germany, Italy, and Russia and
focused on irrational policies like appeasement and disarmament.
You’d think they could have seen and understood external
threats; but they refused to see, refused to understand, and
when war finally caught up to them, they were not ready.
The
threat we face today is not posed by another country. It’s
right under our own feet, directly over our heads, and all
around us. I think the threat is from the very fecklessness,
incompetence, lawlessness, and folly of the world’s leaders at
virtually every level—Godless folk who court divine judgment.
But there may be more to it than that.
Something’s
up. But the auguries are obscure, and difficult to read. Our
leaders refuse to try to read them. “The Red Death will never
get into our castle! Rock on!” Something’s going to hit us, and
we don’t
know what or how or when. It throbs far down in the earth; it
whispers in the air. Deep in the jungle, the drums are sounding.
Thoom, boom, boom. We don’t know what they’re saying.
Repent.
Pray for wisdom.
