"The names of the Jews
of Rhodes, to Randy"
I went to a high school in Seattle which was about 40%
Jewish. Many of them had grandparents who had been killed
by Nazis on the Island of Rhodes
during WWII.
I went to Rhodes later on a tour of Greece. I had met a
Jewish woman who took me to see the memorial to the Jewish
people killed in the Holocaust on Rhodes. Almost every
name had an "exact copy" in my high school annual, for the
Sephardic Jews of Rhodes named their children after their
grandparents, as a tradition.
If anyone wanted to deny the Holocaust, this might be a good
place for him to look, the memorial on the Isle of Rhodes.
The facts are that all but a handful of the whole population of
Greek Jews died there, and this was repeated in other Greek
communities. The only survivors, for the most part, were
individuals who happened to be out of town on the day the
killing began.
I grew up with the grandchildren of those killed on Rhodes,
because so many of their parents migrated en masse to Seattle
before the war.
I am horrified at the claims that America "made up" the Jewish
Holocaust of WWII.
