"To: Marilyn Agee"

This is taken from “The Witness of the Stars” by E. W. Bullinger, D.D.  1893.

"John, in his apocalyptic vision, sees the same mighty Conqueror going forth." "I saw (he says) a white horse, and He that sat on him had a bow,...and He went forth conquering and to conquer" (Rev 6:2).

"This is precisely what is foreshadowed in the star-pictured sign now called by the modern Latin name Sagittarius, which means the Archer.

The Hebrew and Syriac name of the sign is Kesith, which means the Archer (as in Genesis 21:20). The Arabic name is Al Kaus, the arrow. In Coptic it is Pimacre, the graciousness, or beauty of the coming forth."

In Greek it is Toxotes, the archer, and in Latin Sagittarius.

[Online Interlinear Bible Greek to English : noun, Shooter, Bow]

Archer =

τοξότης

Bow. Τόξ [x] ο, = noun. Weapon =Toxo

Rev 6:2 “He was given a Τόξov=Toxon [Bow/Arrow], and was given a crown, and he went forth overcoming that he might overcome.”

From Interlinear Greek-English New Testament

Marilyn,  you have driven me to drag out all my books.  I may learn a little bit of Greek before I'm through with this study.  Getting a bit of exercise, as well.  Of course, I had already believed that the white horse of Revelation and Zech. was the Holy Spirit.

I have the commentaries of Matthew Henry, Wicliff and J. R. Dummellow, M.A., the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, all of which I inherited from my Mother many years ago.  She lived to be 96 and was a student of the bible more that 80 of those years. I have The Works of Josephus and many others of my own.  I even have her Grandmother's 1869 family bible: heavy as lead. My library may be as extensive as yours. Besides, I can use the internet when these books get too heavy and the print seems to shrink.

George Whitefield and Charles Spurgeon both agreed and studied Matthew Henry's commentaries and advised other to do so as well.  They all agreed that the white horse was Jesus Christ and not the antichrist.  The red horse fulfills that category perfectly.  I shall conclude with this post.  Thanks for stirring me up.  jfh
