Dear Marilyn Agee, thanks for your response. I'm interested to know what others think. I choose to believe that the bow is not just a piece of fabric but the New Covenant [rain]bow reminiscent of Noah's rainbow covenant from God.The Word of God is a sharp two-edged sword/arrow and Jesus is the WORD OF GOD in human form. "he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength." [Rev. 1:16]He is also the second Adam in spiritual form or God himself as Immanuel (God with us) prophesied to come by Isaiah. "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." [Isaiah 7:14] "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." [Matthew 1:23]
Rev. 6:2 "I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."Rev. 19:11 "I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."Isaiah 62:2 "Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name."Jesus was called "The Christ" or the Messiah or the Anointed One. That new name was attached to all who believed in Jesus as their Lord: "Christian".So I continue to say that the white horse represents Jesus as the Holy Spirit going forth. He has been crowned. He goes forth in his believers bringing Salvation to all the world after Pentecost almost 2,000 years ago.Zech. 4:6 "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my [Holy] spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."http://69.37.48.6/mbbweb/BibleStudy/14TheSevenSeals.pdf
"Matthew Henry: He had a bow in his hand. The convictions impressed by the word of God are sharp arrows, they reach at a distance; and, though the ministers of the word draw the bow at a venture, God can and will direct it to the joints of the harness. This bow, in the hand of Christ, abides in strength, and, like that of Jonathan, never returns empty."

That makes no sense to me at all. He must not have looked up the Greek word. It is toxon, From the base of G5088; a bow (apparently as the simplest fabric): - bow.
This is a piece of fabric. Fabric signifies that this person is a man of the cloth, a religious leader. The Pope also wears lots of fabric clothing.
Marilyn, may God bless you abundantly, jfhP.S. The Pope also wears a crown and is a man of the cloth but the wrong cloth and the wrong crown. Sorry
