Yes, wrath is coming.  God has used the Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians and Romans to bring discipline in the form of death and destruction.  Often forgotten is the command by God to Moses to kill the idolaters in the desert, just after the exodus.

Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ which clearly shows a progressive release of His wrath in the time of the end.  This alone is a form of mercy. 

For those with a heart for God and faith in Christ the essential thing is to continue to recognize His omnipotence.  As Diane G nicely said, Satan’s works are “filtered through God’s hands.”
