"Correct chronology for the Neo-Assyrian Kings"

The date of the Bûr-Saggilê eclipse, which has been used to anchor in history the chronology for the kings of Israel and Judah that is used in most Bible commentaries, displayed in almost all study Bibles, and taught in most major Christian seminaries, was identified by Sir Henry Rawlinson as having occurred on June 15 in the year 763 BCE. However, the eclipse is better identified as occurring on June 24 in the year 791 BCE. Rawlinson’s misidentification of the eclipse requires the dates for the reigns of the kings of the Neo-Assyrian Empire to be adjusted in order to synchronize with correct biblical chronology.
