Revelation 17

3. And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness;
and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names,
having seven heads and ten horns.

       The woman = church.
       The woman sitting on the beast represents represents the woman initially controlling and guiding the beast just before or the early part of the tribulation.

Which Church? The Roman Catholic Church

17:9    And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills, on which the woman sat. 17:12 And the ten horns which thou saw are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
17:15    And he said unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sat, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth.

It is a known fact to everyone in the first century including the Apostle John the seven hills referred to Rome.  Just as someone writing today knows the big apple is New York.

At the soft date of 475 A.D. For the fall of the Western Roman Empire by invasion from 7 groups- 1 Angles-Saxons, 2 Franks, 3 Goths, 4 Visigoths, 5 Ostrogoth, 6 Huns, and 7 the Vandals. This group represents the current countries of western Europe. The mystery is these groups accepted Christianity from Rome and became More Roman rather than impose their culture on the conquered areas. In fact in 600 A.D. The area controlled by the church in Rome matched the boarders of the now Western Roman Empire.

The Eastern Roman Empire later name changed to Byzantine Empire lasted much longer. This half was eventually invaded by the 8 Avars (Bulgaria and Greece) 9 the Arabs and 10 the Turks.

It was not until 1054 A.D. Did the RCC split with the Eastern Orthodox Church. Also a symbol of the two legs of the east and western empires of Daniel.

7. And the angel said to me, "Why do you wonder?
I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her,
which has the seven heads and the ten horns.

7:7   After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.

The 10 horns are the modern nations of the 10 groups that conquered the roman empire. 1 Angles-Saxons, 2 Franks, 3 Goths, 4 Visigoths, 5 Ostrogoth, 6 Huns, 7 Vandals, 8 Avars (Greece), 9 Arabs and 10 the Turks.

If you notice 3 of the 10 are not controlled by the Roman Catholic Church. Arabs, Turks or Turkey and Greece is Eastern orthodox.

 7:8   I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.

So we have the Roman Catholic Church in Rome the city of seven hills initially riding the beast with 7 heads and 10 horns. The little horn aka the AntiChrist comes to power and fighting for the RCC conquers 3 of the 10 that are against the RCC.

Once the AntiChrist has secured his power he has no more need for the RCC and destroys the Harlot.

There are many RCC prophecies of The Great Monarch (king) that will rise in the end times to defend the RCC.

In no way am I stating that all Roman Catholics are followers of the AC or that none believe in Christ Jesus, The one and only Savior, knowing HE is the only way of redemption.  

Fyi: Originally there were 5 cities of church leaders. Rome, Antioch, Constantinople, Alexandria and Jerusalem. All have fallen to the Muslims except Rome.
