Is the President Christian or Not? Why does it matter?
Hats off to Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum for
bringing a national discussion on whether the man who occupies
the Oval Office is Christian. Santorum said that the president's
policies were based on "some phony theology. Not on a theology
based on the Bible." Santorum clarified that he was speaking
about the president's views on environmentalism and climate
change. Santorum said, "In the Christian church there are a lot
of different stripes of Christianity. If the president says he's
a Christian, he's a Christian." The mainstream news media is
having a fit that after all these years, someone would dare
question the president's faith. In reality, Santorum is making a
good point.
Yeshua (Jesus) said in Matthew 7:20-23, "Wherefore by their
fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that says unto me Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does
the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in
that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in
thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many
wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew
you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." He also said in
John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes
unto the Father, but by me." Here there are two fundamental
doctrines of Christianity--only one way to the Father; we will
know them by their actions.
Both former President George W Bush and the current president
have said that there is more than one way to heaven. This is a
rejection of the central doctrine of Christianity. If they truly
believe that, the Jesus they serve is not Yeshua Ha
Mashiach--the Christ of the Bible. Another indicator is their
deeds. Running up debt by spending someone else's money and
redistributing wealth is covetousness. Promoting homosexuality
over marriage, supporting abortion, aiding and abetting Islam,
remaining silent as the human rights of others are violated
through slavery and persecution--are all indicators of the
Christian walk--or not.
Franklin Graham, of Samaritan's Purse ministry, underscored this
very thing during an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe. He said
of the president, "Islam sees him as a son of Islam because his
father was a Muslim, his grandfather was a Muslim, great
grandfather was a Mulsim and so under Islamic law, the Muslim
world sees Barack Obama as a Muslim." Graham continued, "I can't
say categorically [that he is not a Muslim] because Islam has
gotten a free pass under Obama...he seems more concerned about
them than the Christians being murdered in the Muslim
countries." Despite the outrage this has stirred, actions speak
louder than words. With America drifting away from its
traditional values, this is a good national debate to have
before an election.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
