AMERICAN EMPIRE ROMAN EMPIRE
By Paul McGuire
The American Empire is much like the former Roman Empire. Our
system of government and even the architecture of Washington
D.C. is Roman in its influence. In many respects America rules
the world, along with the invisible government behind it. Pax
Americana or American peace is similar to the rule of Rome which
was called Pax Romana or Roman Peace.
This Pox Romana began with Augustus in 27 BC, was the end of the
Roman Republic and lasted until 180 AD and the death of Marcus
Aurelius. The Latin word pax, is translated "peace," and it also
means "treaty" or "accord." The Roman Empire covered two million
square miles. In the Book of Daniel, the prophet Daniel
interprets the dream that the King of Babylon, King
Nebuchadnezzar had concerning a giant statue, in 604 B.C. The
giant statue was formed out of different materials and
represented the five great Gentile world empires. The first was
the Babylonian Empire, located where modern-day Iraq is now.
Babylon was represented by a head of gold and would reign over
Israel from 625 B.C. -539 B.C. The second empire was Medo-Persia
depicted by arms and chest of silver and ruled over Israel from
539 B.C.-331 B.C. The Grecian Empire was composed on the statue
of a waist and thighs of bronze and ruled over Israel from 331
B.C.-164 B.C. The first Roman Empire, made of legs of iron,
ruled over Israel from 164 B.C.-70 A.D. Finally, Daniel
predicted a Revived Roman Empire in the future, represented by
toes and feet mixed with iron and clay, that would last seven
years. The odd mixture of clay and iron toes, suggested that
this ten kingdom, ten nation or ten regional global governments
would not stick together.
Many scholars have attempted to define this Revived Roman Empire
was as the territory that first Roman Empire occupied,
especially in light of the European Union. Some have suggested
that the ten toes of the statue represent 10 regional global
governments. Many scholars have suggested that the Revived Roman
Empire will be centered at the Vatican in Rome and some have
suggested that it will be headquartered in a rebuilt Babylon in
Iraq. In the last 100 years, many have suggested that America is
the Revived Roman Empire because of the many similarities
between Rome and the United States.
If one wonders about the similarities between ancient Rome and
the United States, simply replay the last Super Bowl. Football
players looking like Roman gladiators, a giant coliseum, the
pop-star Madonna, parading in like Aphrodite or Venus, the
goddess of sex with Roman soldiers and Babylonian mystery
religion-symbolism. From the television commercials to the game
to the half-time show, American's sit around their television
sets and enjoy food, alcohol, sex and the adrenaline-rush of
gladiator-like violent sport!
Ancient Rome, with its rapid deployment military forces,
understood that in order to maintain their Empire they had to
control the geographic land mass of Eurasia, which is Europe,
Asia, and much of the Middle East. That is why Rome controlled
Israel and why the Roman General Titus came into Jerusalem in
A.D. and completely destroyed King Herod's Temple. It was from
that point that the Jews were sold into slavery all around the
world and the temple has yet to be rebuilt.
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly
stones and gifts, he said,
As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the
which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall
not be thrown down.
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things
be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to
pass?
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall
come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near:
go ye not therefore after them.
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified:
for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by
and by.
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom:
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines,
and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there
be from heaven.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into
prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's
sake.
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what
ye shall answer:
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your
adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and
kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be
put to death." Luke 21:5-16
Clearly, we live in the time period that Jesus Christ spoke of.
Everyday we hear of wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes,
famines, plagues, biological warfare, solar flares and
persecution.
The time has come to take our faith seriously. Each of us has a
choice, we can go with the flow of the world system or we can
choose to walk with Christ.
