"Gino, Reply re tabernacle - Dec 1"

Hi John and Doves, and Gino,

Gino (1 Dec 2024)
"
which tabernacle?"

(The antichrist will not only blaspheme God, and blaspheme the LORD's name, but apparently he will blaspheme the LORD's tabernacle:)

Revelation 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

(Which will he be blaspheming? the tabernacle of Jesus' resurrected body? the tabernacle of the temple in heaven? or the rebuilt, third temple on earth?)

Hi Gino,

Re your question as to which tabernacle ‘the composite beast/animal’ is blaspheming against in Revelation 13:6…  You should note in the context that the animal/Beast had been gifted an ‘additional mouth’ (i.e., a ‘spokesperson’ for the animal/beast empire entity, so it could talk) which has been [generally] speaking great things and blasphemies in Rev. 13:5, which it [the animal/beast] had been given authority to ‘continue’ to do for forty-two months. Thus, it was the ‘spokesperson’ [he] who opened his mouth in blasphemy…

So, verse (13:6), simply explains the fact that all blasphemy is against God: i.e., his person, his name, and everything to do with God… even the tabernacle/temple that was believed to still be in existence in Jerusalem when Revelation was written, and also against the people of God whether they dwelt in heaven or on earth.

‘Blasphemy’  New Bible Dictionary 1962, says:

In the old Testament… the root meaning of the word [blasphemy] is an act of effrontery in which the honour of God is insulted by man.  The proper object of the verb is the name of God, which is cursed or reviled instead of being honoured… generally speaking, blasphemy is committed by pagans… idolatry is committing the blasphemy of the heathen… the name of Yahweh is profaned by faithless and disobedient people.

In the New Testament… there is an extension of the meaning. God is blasphemed in His person and also in His representatives.

Therefore, it would seem to me that there is no ‘particular’ tabernacle or temple to be identified in Rev. 13:6, which is blasphemed against… rather the blasphemy uttered by the ‘spokesperson’ for the animal/beast is directed at EVERYTHING to do with God and his people, so Rev. 13:6 covers all the possible bases!

Blessings,
