I would very much appreciate your prayers as I fractured my big left toe on 12/11. I had my son take me to the emergency room 2 days later when a huge blister appeared on the front of the toe. I didn't know it was fractured until they took an x-ray as I was able to walk on it. So please pray for its healing, that it won't get infected, that I won't bump my toe into something, and that I don't fall again while it is healing.
Another problem I have is that my long driveway goes uphill to a parking lot and then I have to walk up an incline to get to my house and go up 2 flights of stairs to get to my living quarters. Since my husband passed away 16 years, I have been shoveling the snow off my driveway with the help of someone else for about 13 years, but my helper developed a health issue a few years ago. Ever since I have been shoveling snow on my own. My son, who lives 1 hr. 20 minutes away, for the past 16 years would come over and snow blow my driveway if the snow was deep enough. However, ever since November of this year, he has been working about 13 hours a day (not by choice) and is exhausted. So he can only come on a Sunday or early Monday morning. So after fracturing my big toe, I tried called a couple of places in my area for snow removal explaining the driveway couldn't be plowed because there is not enough room at the top of the driveway for a vehicle with a snow plow to turn around. The one place I called said that they had a lot of commercial accounts and that snow blowing was too time consuming. The other place that I called, I called 2 days in a row and left a message, but my call was ignored even though I mentioned that I had a fractured toe and was elderly. They never called back. I also filled out the information on two different websites for snow removal, but only 1 person called me back saying that they would stop by to look on my driveway, and they would call me if they were interested in the job. They never called me back so I have no one to clear the snow of the driveway especially if it is wet snow which will freeze solid on the driveway if the temperature drops below freezing. I have an appointment this coming Monday to see a foot doctor, and have a couple that will take me, but it snowed a little on Friday, and it is supposed to snow a little this morning so I may have to cancel. The temperature is supposed to drop down to 9 degrees tonight.
You would think snow removal people would be sympathetic to an older person with a fractured toe, but apparently no one cares enough. Heaven forbid that they have an elderly mother or father in the same boat some day. I find this a very self centered society interested only in making the big bucks. Even my son who is forced to work a 13 hr. day feels like a slave, and it is a union job. Please pray that he finds another good paying job. Whenever a person leaves the company that he works for, another person is not hired to replace the person that left because it is cheaper to pay their overworked employees overtime than it is to hire a new person and pay the employer's share of the employee's social security and medicare taxes. Which means the company cares more about making money and doesn't care at all about their employees' health.
Your prayers will be greatly appreciated for my situation. Thanks!
