""I will meet you by the Witness Tree""

There's a song by Rod Stewart called Broken Arrow. This song is significant for me because it constantly played during the breakup of my first long-term relationship in college.

One of the lines in the song is "I will meet you by the witness tree", and of course I didn't have any clue what that meant at the time nor did my girlfriend, but this was all happening around 1990.

I became born again in 1999. Since then, I feel like the Lord has shown me that the "tree" is the cross.

A Witness Tree is a tree that was present during a grand historical or cultural event of America. The trees got their name from being able to "witness" a historically significant event.

Galatians 3:13 says cursed is everyone who hangs from a tree. Of course Jesus lived a sinless life but he became the curse for us by willingly dying a horrifically painful death by hanging from the cross or tree

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.” Gal. 3:13

And I've always wondered about the word treason, aka tre(e)-a-son.

Here's the link to the song Broken Arrow which I've always liked
