Revelation 21:15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
(Didn’t Jesus have this same thing done before with Ezekiel, then Zechariah, and in Revelation 11, with John?Does this, again, show the focus upon the children of Israel, in the new Jerusalem, as well as the born again Christians?)
Ezekiel 40:3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.23 And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
Ezekiel 41:8 I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side chambers were a full reed of six great cubits.
Ezekiel 42:16 He measured the east side with the measuring reed, five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.20 He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place.
Ezekiel 45:6 And ye shall appoint the possession of the city five thousand broad, and five and twenty thousand long, over against the oblation of the holy portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
Ezekiel 47:3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles.
Ezekiel 48:20 All the oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.35 It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.
Zechariah 2:1 I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
(For Ezekiel and Zechariah, wasn’t the reed to measure a natural city, built on earth? But, here, isn’t the measuring reed a golden reed, to measure a supernatural city, made by Jesus in heaven, which came down to earth?)
(Not only have angels and John measured, but hasn’t even Jesus, himself, measured heaven, earth, and sea?)
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Isaiah 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
Habakkuk 3:6a He stood, and measured the earth:
(The new Jerusalem lies foursquare, with the length and breadth equal; certainly not round, oblong rectangle, or any other shape? Is this similar to what Ezekiel saw, regarding the holy oblation with the possession of the city? The new Jerusalem is measured to be a square of twelve thousand furlongs by twelve thousand furlongs? Is not one furlong equal to one block, or 1/8 of a mile?Twelve thousand furlongs is 1,500 miles, isn’t that how long one side of this city is?Isn’t that like between Houston & Buffalo, Dallas & Philadelphia, El Paso & Chicago, Paris & Moscow, or London & Istanbul?Does that mean that the city lies on a square of 2.25 million square miles?Isn’t the land portion of the lower 48 states of the US, 2.96 million square miles, and Australia about 2.9 million square miles? Will not the new Jerusalem clearly be an extremely large city?)
(First, what is the height of the wall that goes around this city?Isn’t it 144 cubits tall, and if closer to the short cubit, about 210 feet, but if closer to the royal cubit, about 250 feet tall?)
(The city is a square, so, what about the height of the city, how tall is it?Doesn’t it say that the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal, making the city 1,500 miles tall, as well?)
(If allowing 12 ft per story wouldn’t it be like 600,000 stories high?Wouldn’t you have to be like ten miles away to see the top of it from the ground?Below is an image of New Jerusalem if it sat on the [current] earth and its relationship to our [current] atmosphere.)
.
(1,500 miles is 7,920,000 feet, well into the exosphere, which is 300 miles higher than the top of the low-earth orbit region.)
(The top of the city, if upon the current earth, would be 1,250 miles higher than the orbit of the international space station. And it is well above the inner Van Allen Belt, where the atmosphere is almost vacuum, and only trace amounts of oxygen.)
(Also, if in the shape of a cube it would weigh about 4.9 quintillion tons, or if pyramidal in shape, then about 1.6 quintillion tons. That would be using, by reference, the specific gravity of the empire state building, weight per volume compared to water. However, the pure gold of the new Jerusalem would probably result in a higher total weight, then that mentioned above.)
(Considering the area, the height, and the weight, the new Jerusalem could not be with the current earth and first heaven. Therefore, wouldn’t the new heaven and the new earth probably be significantly different?Cannot the new earth be much larger, if still round, much flatter & level, where the city would be set upon? Also, couldn’t the atmosphere still be normal pressure, temperature, and oxygen, at the top of the city? Also, if the earth is much larger, perhaps it may not be as dense, resulting in approximately a similar gravity to the current earth? However, maybe resurrected bodies do not require conditions to be similar to what they currently are?)
(If the city is a giant cube, then does the thought, or need, of a 200 ft high wall around it, make sense? However, if the city is more of a pyramidal shape, like a giant mountain, then, the idea of a surrounding wall makes much more sense.)
(Apparently, there is an heavenly mount Sion in the heavenly Jerusalem, which is above, and where the 144,000 will be with Jesus:)
Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Galatians 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
(Is this the same mountain that the devil had been cast out of?)
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
(Is this the same mountain that the devil has, ever since then, wanted to sit upon, again?)
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
(So, if there is the heavenly mount Sion, in the heavenly Jerusalem, would it come down to the earth with the rest of the city?If so, then the height of the city would be measured to the top of this mountain?)
