CORRECTLY UNDERSTANDING THE LORD'S PRAYER............
"lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"
To correctly understand this part of the Lord's Prayer you must first know the meaning of the three phrases "into temptation", "deliver us", and "from evil" .
The phrase "into temptation" is defined for us in :
Revelation 3 :10
"Because you have kept the word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of TEMPTATION which shall come upon the whole world to try them that dwell upon the earth."
Therefore the "hour of temptation" is speaking of the coming Great Tribulation judgment upon the whole world for those who are left-behind to dwell on the earth after the rapture of the Church. It is called "the hour of temptation" because the anti-Christ will tempt the left-behind to take the 'mark of the beast', and thus be condemned by God. In the Lord's Prayer we are asking to NOT be lead into the evil time of the Great Tribulation on earth also known as "the hour of temptation".
The phrase "deliver us" is defined for us in :
1 Thessalonians 1:10
"Wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, who DELIVERS US FROM the wrath to come."
Therefore it is Jesus who "delivers us" to heaven by rapturing us "from evil" to come during the time of the "the hour of temptation" on earth. which is the wrath of the Great Tribulation judgment upon the left-behind who dwell on the earth after the rapture.
"lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"
The Lord taught us to pray, in the Lord's Prayer, that we would be raptured ( ie.delivered ) to heaven BEFORE the evil time of temptation during the wrath of the Great Tribulation judgment of the left-behind to dwell on the earth with Satan and his anti-Christ.
According to Your Word, come Lord Jesus !
