"Why gematria and such???"

Hello, John and Doves,

Why gematria and such???

Gematria may be regarded as Remez, Derash, or Sod [see below for an explanation of these terms].

It all depends on how well known the gematria value is of a particular word.

And yet, we desire a confirmation of all that is proposed to be true.

And well we should, for it is written,

          Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Acts 17:11  NIV

That having been said, let us turn our attention to Biblical exegesis as it was [and still is] practiced by the Jewish rabbis.  The technique, in its entirety , is referred to as, “Pardes,” for short.  The name, meaning, “garden” in Hebrew, may be a reference to and a longing for a time when Man [Adam and Eve] were able to converse face-to-face with HaShem.  While Adam and Eve were in a state of grace, nothing was withheld.

How often do we wish they would have asked The Question?  Of course, the answer would have been 42.  42 = 6 X 7.  We see displayed in these factors the number of man (6) and the number of God (7).  This is a direct remez to Matthew 1:21—“…thou shalt call His name, “Jesus….”  The reason for the remez is that Jesus [coming from the Greek, Iesous] is really the name Joshua, which can be taken to mean “ADONAI [YHVH] is salvation.”

So then, what after all is Pardes?

From Wikipedia:

Pardes refers to (types of) approaches to biblical exegesis in rabbinic Judaism (or - simpler - interpretation of text in Torah study). The term, sometimes also spelled PaRDeS, is an acronym formed from the name initials of the following four approaches:

·        Peshat (פְּשָׁט) — "plain" ("simple") or the direct meaning.[1]

·        Remez (רֶמֶז) — "hints" or the deep (allegoric: hidden or symbolic) meaning beyond just the literal sense.

·        Derash (דְּרַשׁ) — from Hebrew darash: "inquire" ("seek") — the comparative (midrashic) meaning, as given through similar occurrences.

·        Sod (סוֹד) (pronounced with a long O as in “bone”) — ”secret” (“mystery”) or the esoteric/mystical meaning, as given through inspiration or revelation.

The foundation of biblical knowledge is the basic, plain, simple, and direct meaning of a verse.

The Peshat [of the Tanakh (Torah, Nevi’im, and Ketuvim—Instruction, Prophets, and Writings) and of the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant)] is what some of the best Bible-based churches teach, one chapter at a time.  Some others like to teach by topic, thus exploring the Remez meanings of the Word.

There are classes, forums, and blogs for those who want to dig deeper.

Conclusion:

          The posts of John Tng and others, ones that lean heavily on gematrias and such, contain within themselves verses of clear Peshat meanings.

Amazingly enough, those verses would have come to mind to anyone well-versed [sorry about the pun (but not too sorry!)] in the Word.  The answer to that riddle is, of course, the Ruach HaKodesh—the Holy Spirit.  [1 Corinthians, chapter 2]

We have seen, and continue to see, many non-mathematical proofs that we are on track for 2015.  The 22nd Amendment was ratified on 27 February 1951.  Obama’s time is up on 20 January 2016 at the latest.

And yet, it is written,

          In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones.

Matthew 24:22  NLT

This works well to confine the end of the time of Jacob’s Trouble [Jeremiah 30:7] to Yom Kippur 5776, which begins the evening of 22 September 2015.

As has been noted by myself and others, 5776 [I hope and pray] should prove to be the 70th Jubilee year.

It is written,

          6For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upond his shoulder,
and his name shall be callede
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Judgment on Arrogance and Oppression

8The Lord has sent a word against Jacob,
and it will fall on Israel;
9and all the people will know,
Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,
who say in pride and in arrogance of heart:
10“The bricks have fallen,
but we will build with dressed stones;
the sycamores have been cut down,
but we will put cedars in their place.”

Isaiah 9:6-10

President Doh-bama has claimed blessings for America that are only due a nation that unabashedly obeys the Most High God, El Elyon and ADONAI Tsevaot Yisrael [The LORD of Hosts of Israel].  Therefore, Doh-bama has instead invoked curses upon us.  We cannot escape unless we repent.

9-11 happened one week before the end of the Shemitah year, 5761.

The Dow Jones average fell 777.68 points on Monday, 29 Elul 5761 [also a Shemitah year], which was erev Rosh Hashanah.

Time will tell what will happen in the rest of 5775.

However, it is written,

          1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life,a

and the life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

John 1:1-5  ESV

It is also written,

          God’s Everlasting Love

31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can bei against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.j 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:31-39  ESV
