"To Janie, some thoughts on confusion"

Yes, Janie, the words of modern prophecy can be distressing, for they do not agree, as you have seen.  Mrs. Nelson is no more likely to be correct than the others your mention, Renee Moses or Rody.  We simply do not know when the rapture will be, other than the all-important one thing: we know we must be in the "season".  It is soon.  Most of us will live to see it, although perhaps not all of us at Doves.

We continue to read well thought-out prophecies such as Renee Moses', however, because we know our heavenly Father is a God of order, and the dates and times she has correlated have order.  She has said herself that if she is wrong she will take down her website.  She has that humility which is a requisite for leaders, whether or not they are true prophets.

The main guide for us is the Bible.  So we need to study it diligently, like the Biblical Bereans.
To truly understand the Bible may take many years, and a lot of struggle...it may not be an easy path, as you are discerning now.  But if you are sincere in your acceptance of Jesus as Lord, then He, in His mercy, will accept you even if you are unable to complete your Bible studies in this lifetime..ie., if you die before you do complete them, or some exigency in your life drags you away from your studies.  Trust Him, then, that having set your feet on the right path, He will guide you to the end.  Even if it seems sometimes that the way forward is dark and confusing.

What I have learned about churches is that each one has a flaw.  If you study the various churches' teachings, you will find that most agree on a basic gospel of Jesus Christ our Savior, but they may differ on small but sometimes important points.  Dave H. has pointed that out well, and the Dove who inquired about why don't we look at the Orthodox Church has brought
up yet one more possibility for seeking knowledge in the institutions of man..i.e. in the churches.  There are things to be learned in many of the churches, but no one has all perfect truth.  I would have become Orthodox, having studied with an Orthodox priest, but in the end I could not become accepted by them because my husband was not then Christian (later he returned to Christ).  If my thoughts are wandering, it is because this has been my experience in life, to learn broadly in many churches, and to realize they are all trying to present the truth of the Bible as they see it.  The Bible has truth, but men inevitably present it imperfectly.
Nothing is more true than Paul's statement that here we see as through a glass darkly.  Our duty is to pray earnestly for more light from God, to meditate on each kernel of truth He sends, and to pray hard and hope hard for our final redemption in His Kingdom.

Each of us here could give particular names of pastors, online or off, who have best helped us on our walk, but in our lifetimes we may learn from a series of pastors, each one needed at the time given.  A walk is a walk...two steps forward, one back.  Koinonia House and their founder Chuck Missler have been MY biggest Bible helpers, but even Koinonia and I were parted for a while, as I needed to learn from other "wells".

If I add to the confusion, forgive me.  Trust that the Bible is God's Word, and that you will learn more and more from it each day.  And that He who began a work in you will not fail.
