"re Heavenly Grace- the mystery bride"
Thank you for your post on the 10 virgins and the mystery bride. I agree with what you have found to be true about those scriptures. This is really what the many are called, but few are chosen is all about. We are not saying that many are called to spiritual salvation, but only a few make it. To be called you must be able to hear God's voice and for that to happen, you need to have spiritual ears, therefore be spiritually alive. So many are called to be of the general assembly, or the group labeled the called, but from there....there are only a few that find themselves being of the chosen.
I too have found that the intimate relationship with the Father and Son is God's ultimate goal for man. Few make it a priority. My brother was just sharing the scripture of James 4:4 with me "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." This is being addressed to Christians who are supposed to be living a chaste life in anticipation of the bride groom returning for them. Because the cares of the world had overcome their care for Christ (or love for Christ), James is calling them adulterers. When Joseph found that Mary was to have a child even though they had not been formally wed, he thought to give her a bill of divorcement. That was because the betrothal was just as binding as the marriage ceremony. Now as Christians, we find ourselves in the position of waiting for Christ and Paul tells us that he wanted to present the Christians of his ministry as "chaste virgins" to Christ. But those that let the cares of or love for the things of this world take over their love for Christ are adulterers and therefore in no position to be chaste virgins. In Rev. 2, the church of Ephesus is told that Christ held something against them "they had left their first love."- their love for Him. It is all about being careful and ever mindful of that deeper relationship with the Godhead that is only possible through the inner working of the Holy Spirit. That is the only way we can be kept "chaste", how we can keep the things of this world from overcoming our love for the Father and Christ.
Thank you once again for your post. It added further insight to what I have gleaned already. A confirmation from another believer is so encouraging.
