That was very similar to the way I was taught, except you gave far better scriptural reasons for what you believe.
About 7 weeks ago, Rudy Wallace had written a letter about this Chronological question.

Where I mentioned some other possible views.
One though that I had, was that John, who is only a man, and could only see, hear, or experience things in sequence.
He saw something, “then” he saw something else, and “after that” he heard or saw the next thing, etc.
The “ands” and the “after that’s” could be referring primarily to the sequence of what John saw and experienced.
In a different way, that the four gospels are in the scripture, one after the other.
However, they are four simultaneous views, yet placed in a sequenced order.
Of course, they are not differentiated by the “ands” and the “after that’s”, that you spoke of.
