"Re: Marilyn Agee's Post (17 Dec 2012) - Is the Length of a Biblical Generation 48.3333 or 48.2967 years?"

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.  Luke 21:24

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.  And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.  So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.  Luke 21:27-29

Hi Marilyn -

I count one generation a little differently than you and come up with 48.30 years instead of your 48.33 years.

That calculation is: (49 prophetic years/generation) * (360 days/prophetic year) / (365.242199 days/solar years) = 48.2967 solar years/generation.

One can repeat this calculation using Gregorian years of 365.2425 days and the answer to four decimal places is the same at 48.2967 Gregorian years/generation.

When this generation is added to June 7, 1967, the 2nd day of the 6 Day War when Jerusalem was regained by Israel and no longer trodden down by the Gentiles, the day this falls on is September 23, 2015, Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Hebrew year.

In regard to your statements:

From my Biblical Chronology, I determined the time to cover 2035 years.
2035 years minus 5 (I think Jesus was born in 5 BC) divided by 42 generations = 48.33
1967 (Six-Day War) plus 48.33 years gets us in the ballpark of Tishri 1, 5776, Sept. 14, 2015. I expect that to be the time of the 2nd Rapture and the Day of God's Wrath (Rev 6:17; 7:14; 8).

I agree with you in believing that Jesus was born in 5 BC, which agrees with the many experts who believe Herod the Great died in the Spring of 4 B.C.

I understand your calculation is:

     2030 years / 42 generations = 48.3333 years/generation

And then applied to the last generation before Jesus Christ returns in POWER and great GLORY to set up His 1,000 year kingdom on Earth:

    June 6-11, 1967 + 48.3333 years/generation = around September 14, 2015 (Rosh Hashana)

To the day, 48.3333 years/generation would be 17,653 days and added to June 6-11, 1967 would be October 5-10, 2015.

I also agree with you in regard to your chronology.  The problem is the accuracy of the chronology is not enough over 2030 years to be precise to the day.  Instead, I get a date range.  Let me explain:

Now, we recognize that most cultures did not use the number zero (0), till well after the birth of Christ.  And there is no number to represent 0 in the Hebrew or Greek language.  So this could mean that 2030 years starting to count from 1 would be for us 2029 years starting to count from 0.

We also recognize that cultures did not necessarily round up or down to the nearest year but many times went by the beginning of the reign for example of a King, whenever that happened to fall in a year.  So, I get a date range of 2029 years +/- 1 year for a Biblical generation.  We have already calculated using 2029 + 1 year which gives us 48.3333 years per generation.  That leaves us to calculate 2029 - 1 year for the bottom of the range:

2028 years / 42 generations = 48.2857 years/generation
2028 years / 42 generations * 365.2425 days / Gregorian calendar year = 17,635.995 days

Now rounding off from 17,635.995 to 17,636 days and adding this to June 6-11, 1967 we get September 18-23, 2015.   Pretty amazing in my book!
