"response to Gary C
removing the Holy Spirit"
Hi Gary
I read your study on Galatians, the title "Bible: Damascus
Destroyed Armenia Persecution of Christians".
I take issue with the main theme of your study. You have entirely
mis-understood the letter Paul wrote to the people at the church
in Galatia. I will try to make it short and to the point. If you
want I can reply to questions you may have.If I am
mis-understanding you then I apologize. But it looks like you
are saying god can take away the Holy Spirit from a believer??
Without going through an entire study on the book I am just
going to correct your thinking on a couple of things. It is VERY
important you get this correct because you are making the same
grave error the "false teachers" were doing to the Galatians.
Galatians 3
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the
works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?3 Are ye so
foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by
the flesh?
Paul is trying to tell them just the OPPOSITE of what you are
saying. He is telling them that a person CANNOT be made perfect
by the flesh. The false teachers tried to tell them that they
must obey the law to be saved.
The perverted Gospel was the one where they were mixing law and
grace.
Galatians 3
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the
curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth
not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do
them.11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of
God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.12 And the
law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in
them.13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being
made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that
hangeth on a tree:
As you see above we are redeemed from the law.
then on down
Galatians 3
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put
on Christ.
How are we baptized into Christ?
Ephesians 1
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye
believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
After we believe then God "seals" us with his Holy Spirit. You
or I CANNOT unseal what God has sealed.
Ephesians 4
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed
unto the day of redemption.
We are sealed until we sin? NO NO NO! We are sealed until the
day of redemption. Thank God. Paul was telling these people to
not grieve the Holy Spirit, which is living in you until
you are redeemed. They were still committing sin as we all do.
He is trying to teach them to follow the guidance of the Holy
Spirit and not the flesh.
So after a person believes the Gospel he is sealed. If you
believe that a person must "work" or do other things then you
have NOT believed the Gospel. The Gospel is that Jesus died and
was buried and rose from the dead to cover the sins of you and
me and the whole world. If a person believes that the person is
then "sealed: with the Holy Spirit.
Thanks
