"Guns & the Christian Response"

I predict that we will see an international convention (multi-nation treaty) seeking to control the sale and ownership of firearms.  The Senate and the President through the treaty power will seek to enter into treaty because it will effectively amend the Constitutionally protected right to bear arms contained in the Second Amendment without seeking ratification by the legislatures (process).
High court fight looms over right to carry a gun
The next big issue in the national debate over guns - whether people have a right to be armed in public - is moving closer to Supreme Court review. A provocative ruling by a panel of federal appeals court judges in Chicago struck down the only statewide ban on carrying concealed weapons, in Illinois.
I suspect that some of these events are directly caused by persons acting as agent provocateurs to bring about changes. See Colorado Batman shooting shows obvious signs of being staged and Newtown school shooting story already being changed by the media to eliminate eyewitness reports of a second shooter .

What does the Bible tell Christians about weapons?
Matthew 26:52 KJV Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Luke 22:36 KJV Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Romans 13:4 KJV For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid ; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Revelation 13:10 KJV He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
There are numerous passages that compare the word of God to a two-edged sword Matthew 10:34 KJV Ephesians 6:17 KJV Hebrews 4:12 KJV Revelation 1:16 KJV Revelation 2:12 KJV Revelation 2:16 KJV Revelation 19:15 KJV Revelation 19:21 KJV

Undoubtedly the Word of God is our most powerful and only spiritual weapon. The rest of the armor in Ephesians 6 is purely defensive.  Jesus when he battled with Satan merely stated "it has been written" three times.

How should Christian's respond?
