This question is directed to those older students of Bible Prophecy, who have studied the Scriptures for over 30 years.

BACKGROUND: Can you remember the excitement when Denmark, Ireland, and U.K. joined the European Common Market in 1973 to bring the membership to 9 nations?......Can you remember the fever pitch thrill when Greece became the 10th nation in 1981?......

Remember how we used to browse bookstores back in the 80ies looking for any new book on Bible Prophecy, and with heart pounding excitement we would read each new paperback as it came out?......

In our house, there would always be two bookmarks in those paperbacks - mom and mine......She would read it during the day, and I'd read it at night, passing her up......Of course she'd eclipse my bookmark the next day......

Can you recall the saucer-eyed, jaw-dropping numbness we experienced when it was announced that Spain was scheduled to become the 11th nation in 1986?......The 11th horn was in the shadows, awaiting his entrance onto the world stage!!!......WE ARE GOING HOME!!!......

How about that puzzled feeling we got when both Spain and Portugal joined the exact same day?......"Never Fear" they told us......Spain will sign the treaty first.....Portugal is irrelevant......

When the 13th nation joined in 1995, people like me became perplexed......"Not To Worry" we were told......There has to be 13 nations......Daniel says 3 of the 10 horns will be uprooted, leaving 7...... Jump over to Revelation, and you'll see 10 again......There has to be 3 extra......Hence the 13......

But the same year two more nations joined, bringing the total to 15!!.....I can remember the discouragement I felt that day......In the months preceding that event, I watched the newscasts and read the papers hoping and praying that there would be a last minute glitch, and those 2 nations wouldn't join......I could accept 13 nations, but not 15!......Something had to be wrong......

By the mid 90ies, the internet was born and I eagerly read with rapt excitement the nightly news on the proposed Euro currency......THIS IS IT, I thought!!......Only 12 of the 15 nations are being invited to join, based on their economic qualifications......And of those 12, U.K. and Denmark opted out......That leaves 10 nations scheduled to join January 1, 1999!!!.....WE ARE GOING HOME!!!......

However, it wasn't to be......Years passed and the confederacy eventually expanded to 27 nations, changing it's name twice in the process......BUT WAIT!!!......With expansion came treaty changes......First the Maastricht Treaty (1986)......Then the revised Maastricht Treaty (1992)......The Treaty of Amsterdam (1997)......Treaty of Nice (2001)......Treaty of Lisbon (2007)......etc......etc...... Each time I eagerly hoped for something in each treaty that would create an inner circle of 10nations......Each time I was bitterly disappointed......

SO HERE'S MY QUESTION: Back in the 70ies, what Scriptures should have alerted prophecy students that those original 10 nations weren't the ones prophesied in the Bible?......At least not yet......

In the 80ies, which verses should have warned us that we would have more than 30 years to go and counting?......

Suppose we begin to see 10 nations form out of NATO?......Or from the EU?......Or the G7?......Or the UN?......Or an Islamic caliphate, Arab League, OIC,......etc......etc......

How will we know those are truely the 10 horns of Sacred Scripture?......Anyone who earnestly studied Bible Prophecy in the 70ies and 80ies will tell you: WE BELIEVED WE WERE THERE!!
