To Mark and all the Doves,
Christ NEVER advocated or admonished His disciples to bare or pick up arms of any kind. Looking at how Christ and Paul behaved tells the tale...they never bore arms and neither did any of the other disciples...EVER! The final WORD on this is the one you sited from Revelation 13:10.
I believe these two characteristics described in this verse of revelation are the ALL defining aspects of the Spirit of truth within the last days believer....and the passage you mentioned in Luke is "parabolic" in its context, which comes immediately after Christ tells Peter that Satan is "desiring to sift him like wheat" and then in the subsequent passage(verse 37), He speaks of Himself as being reckoned with the "transgressors", by virtue of(those people that sell[give away] their clothes[Christ's righteousness] to buy a weapon). This is not a command, He is simply telling Peter what will happen...especially in our day.
Finally, Paul tells us that our weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal, Spiritual and the "Sword of the WORD" is that which we are to wield!
Meek and mild, forever turning the other cheek...that is who we are. Let the rest of the world...the unbelieving world worry about their right to bare arms.
2Co 6:7 By [speaking] the word of truth, in the power of God, with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand [to attack] and for the left hand [to defend];
The "sword of the WORD" in our right hand and the "shield of FAITH" in our left...these are our armemants.
your loving brother, Chris
