"The Lord has not
returned..... and the Rebellion of Korah"
Are you disappointed ? Are you lacking understanding ? I
know I am. Do you know that these are the two traits described
by Jude in the rebellion of Korah? Jude 1:8-11. Jude speaks of
those who"revile things they do not understand" adding that
these are like those" who perished in the rebellion of
Korah."Disappointment and disillusionment are strong motivators
and Jude identifies both rebellion and a lack of understanding
as things to be wary of in our situation.
Korah, Dathan, and Abiram were the three men involved in the
protest directed toward Moses. Korah's words " is it not enough
that you have brought us up out of the land flowing with
milk and honey to die in the wilderness, but you would also lord
it over us ?" Numb. 16:13-14. They were so disappointed that
they lost sight of what the LORD had already shown to
them....how soon we forget. Their great doubts became blinding
to them.
You recall that the earth swallowed up these three, their houses
and all the men that appertained to Korah; they were swallowed
alive (v.16:33) and the earth covered them. Yet, do you remember
?? that the "CHILDREN of KORAH died not." Numbers 26:11 In
fact, only Dathan and Abiram refused to go back to the entrance
of the meeting place. ( Numbers 16:12-14). Apparently, Korah
alone did back come as Moses requested and returned to the
entrance. For that Korah's children were saved. In fact, we see
Korah's children were gatekeepers of the tent (1
Chron.9:18-19.) How appropriate that the father returns to the
entrance and his sons become gatekeepers. Korah's descendants,"
sons of Korah", wrote many of the Psalms. Palms
42,44-49,84,85,87,and 88. ALL these are from Korah's sons.
I have learned so much from the doves. Let us not forget what
the Lord has already shown us. We all lack understanding. Meet
me at the gate, I will be there.
