I realize that took a LONG TIME
to write all that out. I want you to know I
appreciate it! What you say is so true.
You know, if this was a different
era & the kids were merely just needing a yard to play in
-- I'd bake them some sugar cookies (or peanut butter.... or
chocolate chip!) ~ and go offer each kid these cookies on a
tray! With some milk or punch or what have
you.....
but in TODAY'S sue-happy
world?? You kidding
me??!!!!!! Why, they might choke (not from
my baking ~ ha!) but just from ingesting wind or
something..... or may later get a little tummy ache from a
virus -- and I'd be the one to get blamed!!!!
We just can't do things the way
they used to be done -- it's a DIFFERENT world!!
You can't even look at somebody in this day & age without
getting sued over something.
And you're right about getting
vehicles keyed or tires slashed, et al ~ believe me, I've
already thought of that. The reason I ran these boys off
to start with is cause they were purposely playing right
next to my vehicle & peering in to see what I had in
there, etc. So I put the vehicle in the garage --
then they came back on a kid's tricycle -- spinning
in circles in my drive over & over again. Well I'm
the cautious type & I figure ~ hey, you're not going to
fall over & bust your rear or break your neck & then
WE get sued!!! I was very kind about telling them
to please go play some place else. But that was how the
"war" started between his grandmother & me ~ my once good
friend.
Interestingly enough, this kid's
granddad has been our P & C insurance agent for many years
& knows we have an umbrella policy (it's to cover when a
worker is at your house: roofer or painter, etc.) and
does not have insurance -- so if he was to get hurt, again
guess who pays??!! Anyway, don't you find that um,
"INTERESTING" to say the least..... that someone in their
family KNOWS we have this policy & then the kid keeps
coming right back here to play??
Dog eat dog world, I tell
you!! And it will never get any better. And I hate
putting it that way -- b/c I truly love dogs!
(Real ones!) /smile
At any rate, thanks again,
Nicole. I esp. loved the part where you speak of how the
Bride is to act -- with good manners!!
Oh, I do have one question
though: as you suggest to not make friends with
any of your associations you find: neighbors,
school, church, etc..... then just WHERE is one to find good
friends?? I'm actually being serious & would
appreciate suggestions ~ though as time winds up, I think soon
that will no longer be a concern. [just from personal
experience from both our current neighborhood & our old
one..... I do think it's wise to not "make friends" with
neighbors!! Greet them with a "hi, how are you?!"
and let it go at that.]
Like I say it's a COMPLETELY
DIFFERENT WORLD we live in now!!
Our Father SAID we'd have days
like this!!
