"Lydia, Karen, Lewis and others re: Lewis Brackett...kjv only"

Dear John,

Please share the below with the Five Doves family:

I, myself, had this same question a couple years back.  When I woke up and was thirsting for the Lord's word, I prayed and prayed for God to lead me to the truest version of his word.  There were so many to choose from, and I wanted to make sure I got "closest to the source."  Well, I began to become deluged with information on KJV.  Everywhere I turned, looked, searched online, they were all leading to KJV.  This may not be the case with everyone, but for me I feel I was led by God to the KJV.  I have several other versions and do like to compare them side by side.

There have been many that have done extensive research on the different versions, and thank God for them as it saved me a lot of leg work myself.  Some great teachers on the subject pf KJV versus other versions are Pastor Mike Hoggard from Missouri, Pastor Charles Lawson from Tennessee and others.  Just today in the mail I received from Amazon a book I had ordered on this exact subject.  It's called "New Age Bible Versons - An Exhaustive Documentation Exposing the Message, Men and Manuscripts Moving Mankind to the Antichrist's One World Religion."  It is written by G. A. Riplinger.  I can't wait to dig into it.

One other note, just for a quick comparison on some short studies I have done.  I was led to study "palm" for some reason (still learning why).  In KJV, beginning of Jeremiah 10:5 states "They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not..."  NIV version says "Like a scarecrow in a melon patch...."   Now, if you were led to a study of palm and only had the NIV, this verse would not have come up.  Equating a palm tree to a scarecrow???

Also, in doing a study on vegan diets, I was led to verse 1 Timothy 4:3 "Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."  NIV states "They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth."  Once again, meats versus certain foods has two different meanings.

These are two I have run across on my own.  There are so many pointed out by the ministers above that show totally different meanings when you read both versions.  I just felt led to share this in my own experience.  Please do your own research before settling on a version just "because it's easier to read."
