Yes, there are 42 months (1,260 days) in the first-half of the 70th Week of Daniel, but there are 43 months (1,290 days) in the last-half of the 70th Week. Here is the proof:
Daniel 12:11
"From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, THERE WILL BE 1,290 DAYS."
End Quote.
My answer: this is not proof at all: 1290 days to WHAT? The end of the week? Not a chance. We have FIVE scriptures in Revelation that show us how long the last half of the week is:
1) Rev 11
2But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
2) Rev 11
3And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
3) Rev 12
6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
4) Rev 12
14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
5) Rev 13
5And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
#1 is telling us that the man of sin has arrived in Jerusalem, perhaps a week or two before he will commit the abomination. He brings armies with him. It makes good sense that he must first ARRIVE in Jerusalem before he can walk into the temple in Jerusalem.
#2 above is telling us of the arrival of the two witnesses. Since verse 3 comes after verse 2, we can be sure that they arrive shortly AFTER the man of sin has arrived. My guess is that they arrive 3 1/2 days before the abomination.
#3 tells us that the abomination has already happened (a second or two before) and they are beginning to RUN for their life.
#4 tells us that as the woman (those living in Judea that are fleeing) will be protected for 3 1/2 years.
#5 tells us that the beast (Antichrist; man of sin) will be given 42 months of authority.
Each of these counts will begin in the verse of mention. Each is speaking of an event that will BEGIN at the midpoint (or close to it) and will END at the END of the week. God is NOT WEAK in math: when He tells us the abomination will divide the week into half, His math is correct to the very day. The day the city is free from trampling will be the official END of the 70th week. The same day, the Two Witnesses will RISE from the dead. This happens at the 7th vial: it is the official END of the week. Added to this, Daniel gives us the last half of the week TWICE as 3 1/2 years.
Readers: notice that we would say, FROM some day TO some day, will be so many days. In fact, Daniel himself used this in the 70th week: FROM the going forth of the command TO Messiah the Prince...
But notice in Dan. 12:11 above, there is no "to..." I believe the "to" is to be understood from verse 6.
Daniel is told: "there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered," and "many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake."
Daniel hears one man shout to another: "How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? " And the answer is given: "it shall be for a time, times, and an half..." or in other words, 3 1/2 years: EXACTLY what John has told us five different times.
Daniel is still confused at to the timing, so asks again: "8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? "
Daniel is not given the answer he requested: it was ALREADY GIVEN as 3 1/2 years. But now, MORE information is given:
9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
11And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
So what do we make of this answer? There is no "to" here, only a "from." I believe the "from" and "to" is this:
"from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up" "to the end of these wonders""there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days."
Notice that in verse 6 one man asks "How long shall it be to the end of these wonders..." Verse 7 gives part of the answer: 3 1/2 years. But verse 11 adds another element: 1290 days, or an added 30 days.
So is the last half 1260 days or 1290 days? Since we have 7 different verses telling us it is 1260, then we can be SURE the week will END on the 1260 day. But there are some "wonders" that will take place AFTER this: for example, the BEAST is captured and thrown into the lake of fire. This happens AFTER the week has finished. But Daniel also gives us yet another time: 1335 days. This day is 75 days after the 70th week has ended at the 7th vial. It is anyone's guess what happens here. It could be the end of the judgment of the nations, and the time people are allowed entrance into the millennial kingdom.
Notice that a part of "these wonders" is the resurrection of the Old Testament saints. I believe their resurrection is exactly as Jesus said, "on the last day" or the final 24 hours of the 70th week. I believe they will rise at the sounding of the 7th trump, exactly when the Two witnesses rise.
So do we take two verses that tell us the last half of the week is 1260 days, or one verse that does not really speak of the end of the week, but of the end of the wonders? We have two verses that give us 42 months - so now we have 4 verses to one. It makes FAR MORE sense that the 1290 day verse is NOT SPEAKING of the end of the week, but of the end of the wonders.
Please keep in mind, Jesus does NOT come at the official end of the week as many suppose. He will be in heaven at the marriage ceremony and supper. That event cannot begin until the resurrection of the Old Covenant saints at the 7th trumpet. Therefore, Jesus does not get on the white horse and descend until some days AFTER the week has ended. Could the wedding and supper last for 30 days? It is possible.
Merry Christmas, Doves!!
