Susanna has a point that I've often wondered. I used to believe in reincarnation, so things like this I just accepted. When I became a Christian and learned these things, I just assumed I didn't understand the true meanings of the words, or the translation, or that it was a sort of 'type'. I am curious to see what the more scholarly/learned Doves have to say.
