It was reported last summer that the Oil Spill in the upper Gulf, had stalled the loop current in the Gulf Stream.  This current is responsible for the mild winters in the UK and Northern Europe. It was noted , that  the water tempuratures in the Gulf Stream, off the coast of New England, were 10 degress below normal, this past summer.  Scientists in Italy, using satelite imagery recorded the phenomenon.  The Gulf Stream brings the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico to the North Atlantic. Get ready for a possible catastrophic winter of 2011 !!
