Good afternoon, Under the eagle's standard that went before Rome's legions, were the letters "SPQR," which stood for 'The Senate and We the People of Rome." The Latin word meaning "we the people" has come down to us/ been transliterated as the word "Republic." In the minds of our founders, they were creating a New Roman Republic, and To "Do all that is Roman" in our attitude and governance. And BTW, our founders also stole the flag of the former Dutch Republic, which had seven red and six horizontal white stripes as our own. This was not lost on anyone/ any European in that age of Revolution. As for Christians, perhaps we should consider that "We the People" is what the mob insisted on at the "Tower of Babel." > Just thought you should know; Lewis
