"RE: Gino- degrees of reward"
Hi Gino, I haven’t weighed in for a long time here at 5doves, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been watching and waiting. From time to time I run across something interesting that causes me to ponder. That’s why I started visiting this site in the late 1990’s. The split rapture was a constant discussion then with scriptures being researched and thoughts being given. I myself was not of that thought, but Marilyn Agee had researched and researched and had scripture and verse to back up her thoughts. She posted for years and when she passed, the champion of that thought was gone as well. I have watched the scope of what 5 doves seems to be concerned over, change in the 25+ years it has been active. That reflects the ebb and flow of society as well as inspiration from God. When I ran across the video you were referencing, it was a nod to an older concept received here with a twist…. Christians being raptured in their ranks as reward for pursuing sanctification- a big word that means changing from the ways of the world to operating in the ways of the Lord as a way of life. This sequential rapture was simply a way to get all believers to heaven in their order…. or rank. It was called reward because God does give rewards to His children based on how they lived their lives.
Christ’s life is to be our example and if we choose to follow that example, we will be looked upon as odd. Scripture calls it peculiar (Titus 2:14) Christ did many odd things as far as the people were concerned. He hung around the temple rather than leave on the journey home with his parents when he was 12-odd. He was exhausted…so he went to pray- odd. He was walking in a crowd, stopped, and said “who touched me”.. weird, of course people were touching him. A guys daughter was sick, then died. Jesus told him that she was only sleeping-odd. His friend was very sick and he could help him, but he waited until his heavenly Father told him to go, and then promptly raised him from the dead even though tradition stated a person could be raised from the dead up to three days after they had departed… but this was the fourth day- odd.
And that is the key…. Jesus did only what the Father told him to do. Our lifes mission is to be like Christ. To be transformed into the image of God’s son. Do all Christians strive for that, are all Christians even aware that it is a “thing”? It is this aspect of our life that is rewarded. Sins are gone, covered under the blood, so that’s not an issue. But what you have done with your life that reflects value to the Father…. that is rewardable. Scripture gives us the example in Matt 25:31-46 that shows rewards are used on how you served others. And punishment comes from not seeing an opportunity or even willfully ignoring one and not using it to help others. (Not letting a good work flow from the Father, through you, to one in need)
So while I am not sold on the idea of a split rapture because of several scriptures and types in the bible, the aspect of rewards is throughout scripture. The fact that none of us are or ever will be perfect in our actions and deeds here on earth is a “given”, but God cares about the moments when His presence is felt on earth because someone was willing to let Him flow through them to answer a need or concern. Keeping count of sin only allows the "sin encourager- satan" more room in ones attention to operate. Instead, keeping count of the amazing moments when God used us and to pray for more opportunities to be His hands, feet, inspiration, encouragement, joy, peace…… Whatever you focus on, you become…. That is rewardable, like a bonus to our guarantee of life in heaven.
Thanks for being so transparent Gino. I enjoyed reading your response. Sorry it took so long to answer…. life has been crazy busy.
