"ELUL and Psalm 27"

John and Doves,

Most of you already know that during the Hebrew month of Elul (pre-Autumn), the  people of God recite Psalm 27 each morning and evening.
I personally recite Psalm 27 each morning during Elul while listening to the four sounds of the shofar, (ram's horn) which are blown each morning of Elul.
--------------------------------
...from "My Jewish Learning"; the 4 sounds:

1.Tekiah--- (spoken "t'keeyah")
     a short wake-up blast
2. Shevarim--3 short blasts.....at attention

3. Teruah--- 9 stacatto blasts, as of one crying

4. Tekiah Gedolah---one very long blast.
(Personally, I think of our upward journey at the Rapture).

All 4 sounds instill a sense of reverance and awe as our souls approach nearer to God.

Psalm 27 Highlights:

Psalm 27 is a very comforting Psalm, especially for this generation facing so many
foretold warnings.

The word that sticks out in my mind is the word
 " war".
We are being commanded not to fear, even if the king of terrors, war, (v.3,) surrounds us.

In these modern times, the godless communist nations plan to use an EMP explosion upon those who may retaliate against  their invasion upon Israel.
(Magog war of Ezekiel 38, and 39 ??).
That is why the Lord's opening line is,
"The LORD is my *Light* and my Salvation, whom shall I fear.?"
(no one, and nothing).

Instead, we are to trust,
"Be confident" (v.3)
sing, (v.6 ) ....
despite Gov. Newsom,
pray  (v.7),  and ask for God's mercy, (v.7)

One part that is especially comforting is that even if one becomes parent-less,
without a mother or a father, then God Himself will parent us, promising never to leave us nor forsake us.
That promise is repeated
in Hebrews 13:5.

God is our Strength (" El Gabbor"), and He will be the Strength of our heart."
 v. 14.
We are to wait patiently for Him. v.14.

May we all rest in the comfort of Psalm 27, in spite of war.

"Some trust in chariots, some in horses.
We will trust in the Name of our Lord God."(Jesus)
Psalm 20 :7
