What does, "in the sight of the beast", mean?

Revelation 13:14a And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; 

Does it mean in the presence of the beast, and while the beast is looking? I ask, because that is kind of how, "in the sight of", appears to be used in the preceding line:

Revelation 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

So, is that similar to the way that, "in the sight of the beast", is used?
