Nimrod's  Tower

      "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth," Genesis 11:4.  
Introduction
     Every serious Bible student is familiar with the story of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel, Genesis 10:8-10; 11:1-9.  Following the flood, all the people stayed together, even though there were three different races of people who had descended from the three sons of Noah.  
     Noah's son, Japheth, was the father of the white, or fair skinned peoples, who spread over the continent of Europe.  
     Shem, was the father of the bronze skinned, or oriental peoples, who spread  over the continent of Asia.
     Ham was the father of the black, or dark skinned people, who spread over the continent of Africa.    
      But at that time they were all together as one people, and all spoke the same language, communicating easily with one another.  After leaving the vicinity of the Ark, they all journeyed together until they came to the land of Shinar.  There they settled and dwelt together.
The World's First King
     Nimrod took advantage of this situation, apparently to become the leader or ruler of the entire group.  Nimrod was the son of Cush. According to Jewish scholars, Cush was one of the wickedest men who had ever lived, and his son, Nimrod, followed in his footsteps, even exceeding his daddy in wickedness.
     The inspired Word describes Nimrod as "a mighty hunter before the Lord."  This literally means that Nimrod was a "hunter of souls," setting aside the worship of the Lord God, and placing himself as the object of worship for the peoples over which he was reigning.  Nimrod, right at the beginning of mankind's dominance over the earth following the flood,  was a  type of the future anti-christ, who is to come in these "last days."  
The City and the Tower
      In order to "make a name" for himself and those who were following him, this people began the building of a city there in the land of Shinar.  The inspired Word states that "the beginning of his kingdom was Babel," Genesis 10:10.  So obviously Nimrod was the first ruler over ancient Babylon, one of the wickedest anti-God kingdoms which has ever existed in human history.  
     However, it wasn't enough to build the city.  Nimrod and the inhabitants of Babel, also began the building of ".....a tower whose top may reach unto heaven.......lest we be scattered over the face of the whole earth," Genesis 11:4.
     This was an act of absolute defiance of God.  The Lord God had already told those who came out of the Ark, to "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth," Genesis 9:1; 9:7.  But one of the purposes of building a city and a tower in the land of Shinar, was obviously to keep the people together; to prevent or discourage them from spreading over the earth as God had commanded.   
     Nevertheless, the will of the Lord God is always fulfilled, even if it is fulfilled following God's judgment upon wickedness and rebellion, Romans 13:2.  
Mankind Divided by Language
      From the statement made by the Lord in Genesis 11:5-6, there was something about the tower the people were building, that was totally contrary to the will of God.  The Bible does not tell us what it was, but the Lord Himself said that if the tower was completed, ".....nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."   
     So the Lord God, after viewing the city and tower Nimrod and his followers were building, then confounded the tongues [lamguages] of the peoples so they could no longer communicate with one another in the same language.  This brought about such panic and confusion among those people that they scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth, obviously remaining only in the company of those who spoke the same language, Genesis 11:6-9.
     As a result of the Lord confounding the tongues of the peoples, the Tower of Babel was never completed.     
  The Importance of This Event   
     The careful Bible student should notice the desire of Nimrod and his followers  in 11:4, and God's response to it in 11:6.  
     In building the tower of Babel, the people were looking for another way to reach heaven, or into the heavens, than by trusting in the Lord God.  Sadly, some people are still doing this today.      
     Let's Move Forward 4,000 Years
     For some 4000 years since the flood, the people in most of the nations on the earth kept mostly to themselves, living within the boundaries of their own nations, and living the best they could under whatever conditions existed in their various nations.  
     But about 200 years ago, what is commonly referred to as "The Industrial Revolution" began, and the whole world began to change. If one looks at the "big picture," the Industrial Revolution was brought about by the barriers of communication between men and nations breaking down or being removed.  Instead of a world composed of many nations, peoples, and languages, today the world has again become one group or people, united by their common goal of  advancing human technology.  I have actually heard and read the statement, "We are all one people living in the same world."  
     The "Industrial Revolution" likely began with the discovery of how to produce and harness [make use of] electricity.  From this discovery came the invention of the telegraph, enabling mankind all over the earth to communicate with one another, just like mankind was doing in the days of Nimrod.  This was followed by the invention of the telephone, the automobile, the airplane, radio, television, computers, cell phones, and thousands of other products that we use daily, and now take for granted.  Indeed, the "Industrial Revolution" has again united the peoples of the world as one people.  
     The barrier of language, established by God as He "confounded" the languages of the people, has also almost disappeared.  Today we have computers and other machines which can instantly translate any language spoken by mankind into whatever language is desired.  So communication between different peoples is no longer a barrier to the sharing of information.  It is the common sharing of information which has produced.......
   Modern Technology
      I want to make it quite clear that I am thankful that the Lord God has permitted some advances in technology, which have been a real blessing to mankind.  But not all technology has been a blessing, and not all men are thankful, Luke 6:35; 2 Timothy 3:2.  
      Today the barriers in communication have been almost completely removed by man's technology.  Mankind today has the ability to quickly translate different languages, spoken or written, into the particular language desired, so men in any nation or people can easily exchange what they have "imagined to do" with one another.  And the technology which has resulted from such an exchange of man's imaginations, almost blows the minds of the average person.
What Man has Imagined.....
      I have received reports that scientists are now feverishly working to design and build space craft capable of transporting a crew to Mars, and bringing them back safely.  So!  After they accomplish going to Mars, if they do, then where will they want to go next?   Read Psalm 115:16.  
     I recently received a report stating that medical researchers all over the world are exchanging information about the aging of the human body.  Some medical researchers believe, that if they can find the answer to the problem of aging, there would be no reason that mankind could not live forever in their natural bodies.
      God have mercy!   Who would want to live forever with other people who have a "sin nature" which causes them to hate, lie, cheat, rape, rob and steal, wage war, and commit  murder?  
     So with one common language restored, and information being freely exchanged among all races, is mankind today, figuratively speaking,  rebuilding the Tower of Babel all over again?  With the degree of technology we have reached today, will anything the depraved minds of fallen men "imagine" be restrained from them?  Think about it!
Two Important Dates   
       Two important "dates" in mankind's advancement of technology stand out as I think on these things.   
     One of those "dates" was July 16th.  The other is August 6th.  Why are these two dates  important?  I'm  glad you asked!  
The Splitting of the Atom
     It was on July 16, 1945 that the first Atomic Bomb was exploded on the floor of the desert, just a few miles north of Roswell, New Mexico.  The inventors of this heinous bomb had began working on it in 1939.  Six years later, they had learned how to split the atom, and make a bomb which would be used to bring the Second World War to a close.  
     "6" is the number in the Bible which signifies, "man; the works of man; Satan's influence over man."  It is certain that Almighty God did not lead men to invent and build such a horrible weapon.  God permitted wicked mankind to build it, but He sure was not the author of it.  The Lord Jesus Himself said that it is Satan [the thief] who is come ".....to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly," John 10:10.
     Our American miliitary forces then used this new weapon, by dropping it on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945.  The resulting explosion of that bomb, according to the Japanese authorities themselves, instantly killed 60,000 people, with "dozens" more dying every day from the severe burns and radiation sicknesses.  A second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan just two days later, instantly killing another 10,000 people, and causing more people to day daily from the effects of the bomb.  The Japanese government later reported that an estimated 160,000 people had died as result of the dropping of those two Atomic bombs.  What a vicious, horrible, weapon was this bomb invented and used by the nation of America.
A Warning!
     "21" is the number in the Bible which signifies, "Covering of sin; covering for sin; the 21 judgments of the Tribulation period."  There is no question in my mind that the Lord God permitted mankind to invent and use this horrible weapon, as a warning to mankind of the terrible judgments which are to come upon unbelieving and unrepentant mankind during the soon coming Tribulation period.   See Revelation 8:7-9, 8:10-11, and 8:12.  
     Now think about this.......It has been 73 years since the invention and use of the Atomic bomb.  2018 - 1945 = 73.  I have long believed that the
Lord Jesus Christ will come to resurrect and rapture all true believers from off the earth, just in time to save His people from being destroyed by the wicked.   The Lord Jesus Christ is indeed our "Prince" coming to rescue His Bride.  Glory to God.
      In view of this truth, don't fail to notice the numbers involved in the 73 years since the invention and use of the Atomic bomb in 1945.  "7" is the number in the Bible signifying, "Completion; to complete; finish; fill up; conclude."  "3" is the number in the Bible which signifes, "Resurrection; rapture; the Triune Godhead."   Do the meaning of these numbers say anything significant about this present year?  
Worshiping the Wrong God
     Since the invention and use of the Atomic bomb in 1945, the political and military rulers in America have looked to our nuclear arsenal to guarantee us protection from other nations who would love to see America destroyed.  Our nuclear arsenal has been built up over these many years, until we likely have the largest quanity of nuclear bombs of any nation on earth.  And our government has assured the American people that no nation would dare to attack America for fear of "retaliation."   How utterly ridiculous!  What glaring ignorance!  
     Tell me, dear reader.....Who or what was left in Hiroshima to retaliate after the bomb had exploded?  Likewise in Nagasaki?  It should be glaringly obvious that the nation who strikes first with a nuclear weapon, will have won the war.  The idea that there will be a nuclear exchange in such a war is unadulterated stupidity!  PERIOD!   
     The inspired Word of God, even using primitive language, is quite clear, " The horse is prepared against the day of battle; but safety is of the Lord," Proverbs 21:31.  Any reader who is depending upon anyone other than the God of Heaven for their protection and safety is looking to the wrong god.  
The Law of Sowing and Reaping
      The inspired Apostle Paul referred to the Law of Sowing and Reaping in Galatians 6:7-8, when he said, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
     For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."  
     The principle set forth in these inspired Scriptures apply to nations and peoples, just as much as they apply to individuals.  This truth is seen over and over again in reading the histories of the nations and peoples recorded in the Old Testament.  Plus, in Genesis 1, the Lord God Himself stated ten times, that every living thing He had created should bring forth "after his kind."  In the past 6,000 years of human history there has been no deviation of these truths.  Whatever is sown, is exactly that which is reaped!  
The Application of This Truth
     Folks, we are living today in "the last days" of this present Dispensation of Grace.  God's gracious dealings with mankind by Grace is about to end with the resurrection and rapture of all true believers.  This present dispensation will then be followed by the Tribulation judgments of the Lord God upon Christ rejecting, unbelieving mankind left behind on the earth when the rapture occurs. Mankind in general has sown the seed of unbelief and rejection of Christ, and they are about to reap what they have sown.  
     Now in view of these truths, where does that leave the nation of America?   
     Even while I write, the controversy with North Korea over their development of nuclear energy and the missiles to deliver their bombs is still going on.  Current news!  
     Yes, our President has met with the Communist ruler of North Korea, and has been assured that North Korea is only going to use their development of nuclear energy "for peaceful purposes."  Sic!  
     This is nothing more than an extension of the lie the Bolsheviks told the King of Russia in 1917.  Communism is in itself a lie of Satan. Read John 8:44. I really don't care what the ruler of North Korea told our President.  I personally don't believe a word that came out of his lying mouth.  
     The news media has reported that North Korea now has a nuclear bomb, and the missiles to deliver it over 5,000 miles [or further].  This means that North Korea's nuclear bombs can now reach the west coast of America, or even into the heart of America.  And some think the little nation of North Korea would never dare attack this great nation of America.  Sic!  And what effect is this threat having on the American people?  
A Form of Godliness
     The churches of America all over this country are almost deserted today.  Some have closed their doors due to lack of attendance.  The inspired Apostle Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 exactly how nations and peoples on the earth would be conducting themselves "...in the last days..."  Sadly, this is a perfect description of America and it's general population today.  
     Folks, I am an old man with lot's of memories.  I can remember when the churches of America were packed with people, praying for their husbands and sons away on the battlefields during the Second World War.  But once the war ended, the people showed their gratefulness to God by deserting the churches, and turning their backs upon God, and the truths of His Word.  This is the seed sown by America as a nation and a people.  Well.....
It is Harvest Time
     Why this controversy with North Korea over their development of nuclear bombs and missiles, right at this time.....??
     It was America, yes, our beautiful, wonderful, nation, who sowed the seed of atomic or nuclear war, when we destroyed an estimated 160,000 of the Japanese people with the Atomic bomb.  
      One of the laws of sowing and reaping, is that when we sow the seeds in our garden or fields, we expect to reap a far greater and more abundant harvest from the seeds sown.  Don't we?  Isn't that the way it works?  Every reader knows this is true!
     Folks, history records that most nations throughout human history have never lasted more than 200 years before there was a complete change in government, causing a change in the whole nation.  This year America has existed as a nation for 242 years.  
     "2" is the number in the Bible which "just happens" to signify, "departure; to leave; to go out; to separate; to divide."  
     "42" is the number in the Bible which signifies, "The coming of Christ."  
Conclusion
     Dear readers, we are at the end of this present age!  The Lord Jesus Christ is coming SOON.  But He is coming only for His people!  Those of mankind who are still in unbelief and rejection of Christ, will be left behind on this earth to enter into, and experience the terrible judgments of the Tribulation period.  When the Tribulation period is concluded in seven years, by the Second Coming of Christ back to this earth, every unbelieving Christ rejector still living on the earth will be put to death.  Will that include you?  I hope not!  My earnest prayer, in writing out these studies is that men and women, boys and girls, will heed the warnings and give their heart and soul to Christ, while they still have the opportunity to be saved.  Romans 10:13.
