Thoughts on the "Great" American Eclipse on Monday.

These are some thoughts that I have been having lately, but after reading Pastor Riley's comments on "August" last week, I finally decided to write my thoughts down and send them in, though I rarely write, because I am very much in agreement with Pastor Riley's thoughts on August and wanted to further add my own opinion.

In regards to the "Great" American Eclipse - I can not help but wonder at the circus it has become and at the sheer ignorance of our nation.

Here is what I mean.  Years ago, primitive man trembled at the sight and sound of thunder and lightning - thinking it was the weapon of an angry God.

Likewise, when the sun was darkened or the moon was turned to blood in an eclipse; people didn't make it an entertainment event, but rather took pause to consider that it was perhaps an omen or harbinger from God as a warning of judgments to come.

Like Pastor Riley, I live along the path of the eclipse, on the outskirts of Nashville and I can tell you this event has become big time around here.

My thoughts and concerns are that our nation, in it's ignorance, are turning this "Great" American Eclipse into a circus rather than pausing to reflect on what it really means.

Here is the problem.

Years ago man had a healthy fear of lions, but when man was able to capture the lion and put it behind a cage for viewing man brought his children to gaze upon the lion now safely locked away.

Likewise, eclipses used to be viewed with fear and awe of the God of the universe Who alone controls such things.

Now that scientists and computer programs have been able to predict the orbits of the heavenly bodies, the sun and the moon are predictable and have become like the lion in the cage, no more fear, no more awe, just a captured spectacle to provide entertainment.

Amazing - that the same tools that would allow those of us watching for Christ's return to marvel at the heavenly signs which we can now foresee and predict, would also inoculate the blind, scoffing and unbelieving against the wonder of it all by making them a sort of a common, predictable occurance now.

The problem with our nation is that so few actually still believe in the God of the bible, and of those that actually confess Him, only a few of those still think that He actually still cares about the sins of our nation.

He does care.  He does not wink at our sin.  Even many of those that name the name of Christ in this nation have grieved the Holy Spirit and brought shame on the name of Christ, by living a life of greasy grace and allowing the forces of darkness and immorality to take a foothold in this nation.

I preach this against myself as well, although I have never practiced grace as a license to sin, I should have been more vocal over the years against the slow, gradual invasion of immorality and sin.

I can now see how the culture of "tolerance" crept into my own life as well permeating by our politically correct culture.

Not that I have any tolerance for sin, but I, like so many other Christians have remained silent for so long thinking that I had no right to "force my beliefs" on others - that now the momentum of the culture has overtaken us and judgment is now quite certain and nothing will reverse it.

I still see this eclipse as a sign of judgement to come.  The ancient Jewish sages proclaimed that a lunar eclipse was a bad omen for Israel while a solar eclipse was a bad omen for the nations of the world- and here is one smack dab in the middle of the heartland of the USA!

While the masses are making a circus of this, I am certain of the meaning.  Yet the masses in their hearts scoff, peace and safety! It's just a lion in a cage! God doesn't care, this is just a spectacle- drive from wherever you are! Get your eclipse glasses! Let's all go to the circus and forget why the eclipse is really being shown to us!

With judgement looming on the horizon, how much sooner the rapture!

Whether the rapture comes by the eclipse, or soon after at the Revelation 12 sign in September or by neither of these, be sure, the rapture is coming swiftly and will precede the awesome judgment that will surely follow and this judgment this nation will have been warned of at the circus to come on Monday called the "Great American Eclipse"

I have again entered into a time of fasting and prayer leading up to Rosh Hashanna and would suggest that many of you reflect and seek if perhaps The Lord would have you do the same.

No amount of prayer or fasting can make us acceptable in God's sight only the blood of Jesus can! Our good works are not sufficient!

But this is not my work done in my strength, it is His work done through me. I seek to be used by The Lord and allow Him to use my body in fasting and prayer that His will might be accomplished in my life and on the earth! All glory to Him Who redeemed me! 
Draw near unto Him.
Surely time is short.
