AHEAD TO THE PAST
Standing back in reflection,
Surveying the distant past,
I perceive so many mistakes,
Through the shadows that I cast.
The tides still ebb and flow,
The stars still wax and wane,
They seem oblivious to my confusion,
About the things I can’t explain.
What direction should I pursue?
What path should I have taken?
Why didn’t I accomplish a little more,
To avoid feeling so forsaken?
The moon exerts its luminance,
The sun emits its rays,
Elucidating the parameters,
Of my melancholy haze.
The silence is so deafening,
I admit my prayers are weak,
But I must persist through my inadequacies,
Though humbled, tired, and meek.
Thank God that I am forgiven,
Though I have fallen far short of the mark,
Heavenly success is based on FAITH,
Which precludes us from the dark.
Now glancing to the future,
I stare back at Calvary Hill,
Jesus died two millennia ago,
To redeem me -- despite how unworthy I feel!
My future was secured by His Blood,
I now have access to the Father’s Throne,
Because He died for ALL my sins,
I will soon be welcomed HOME!
